Two incredible singers.

One incredible song.

I remember the first time I saw
this, as a child.

It still has the same effect.

Enjoy,
Lex

Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy

It was one of the most surreal meetings in the history of music. Bing and David had just met for the first time. Bing had asked that they should invite some "talented english pop singer" for his tv-show, and someone suggested they should invite David Bowie. Bing didn't know who David Bowie was at the time. They rehearsed for one hour before they shot this video. After the show, David and Bing had become friends and Bing gave David his private phonenumber. He also praised David as a very talented young man (or something to that effect). Bing died a week or so after this was recorded, if I remember correctly.

Hmmm, I guess I should have checked instead of trusting my memory. Bing actually died just over a month after this recording, not a week. And it was recorded on September 11, 1977. You can read about it yourself here, in not-so-broken english (wikipedia).

The track was originally recorded on September 11, 1977 for Crosby's 1977 television special, Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas.

Bowie sang "Peace on Earth" and Crosby performed "Little Drummer Boy".

Released October 1982
