Amy Winehouse

I've been a Winehouse fan since I first saw the video "Rehab" on youtube about a year ago. I think in a world that is becoming more fake day to day, it's really refreshing to see a real artist that writes and sings their own songs.

Yes, Amy is a druggie and a hot mess but she as real as it gets. She doesn't hide anything, she is all out there in the open for everyone to see.

I just want to know what you people think about this talented broad.

I'll embed a couple of clips so you can understand what I'm talking about.

i often have a hard time seeing past things like drug problems, and i find myself a little repulsed by her actually. for example, when i was in high school there was a girl that all the guys thought was "hot". i couldn't see it. i tried to see what they saw but she acted like such a moron that it turned me off. there was ONE moment when the girl was giving a report in front of the class, so she had to act like a normal person. in that instant i suddenly went "wow, yeah i guess she is pretty."

maybe if winehouse cleaned up her act i might go "yeah, her music is good."

it's not really apples and apples depending on how you look at it, but maybe i made my point. in short, no i find nothing appealing about her or her music.

that's okay, you are entitled to your opinion.

But throughout modern history, great art comes out of tortured souls. IMO, a tortured soul is a direct result of a rebellious mentallity. Fighting that of which you know is BS and constantly searching for love(truth), but repeatedly falling on your face in doing so.

Winehouse is a true throwback to an era when people used to fight the system and didn't care what the outcome would be. Today, people are too scared to be "themselves", if they even know what that means.

Fear is dominant in today's society and when you see someone that is fearless, the people will try to bring them down into their fearful existence.

To have an Amy Winehouse exist today is a miracle.

Amy has a really nice voice and she is talented I must say.

Many of our most revered musicians have been junkies. Just look at Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. John Lennon wasn't exactly straight edge either.

Yeah, she is jewish. She is by far the baddest jew broad on the planet right now. Sarah Silverman is a distant second. lol.

She is very comparable to Janis isn't she? I never thought of that!

KT Tunstall is an original in a sea of replicants as well.

I know she was born in Israel, but she is a jew?

I had not payed any attention to her - I just saw a couple pics of her in tabloids (it seems she just came out of no where). From the little you tube clip I did get to see, I am impressed. I will definitely check out more of her stuff. I am frustrated though that the two clips provided aren't working well on my computer.

Here's the clip you are talking about, but it's not indicative of what this chick can really do. F me Pumps was the first sing I ever heard of Amy's, Rehab was second, and it was like listening to two different people.

Here, watch them both and notice the huge contrast. Also, the sound on her first album Frank is much more different then Back to Black.

I'll also throw in Love is a Losing Game, great song.

I don't know, she doesn't seem jewy to me.

Her dad is an Israeli and mom an American. She has lived in the states from a very young age and it doesn't seem like she grew up in a jewish environment.

It just seems to me that she wasn't brought up in a Jewish household, that's all.
