yep, it went by without so much as a whimper.

now if nothing happened then, i wonder how many other predictions can be wrong? potentially all of them.

hopefully this will help keep people in perspective when it comes to predictions, even if you want them to happen and come true just to say "i told you it would happen" there is a good chance that nothing will happen and make you look like a fool.

thats why i stopped buying into predictions, if its going to happen then its going to happen. a prediction is stating that something IS going to happen, not might maybe or possibly happen but will happen and that implies a certain amount of definitiveness to it, enevibility if you will. so talking about it, wringing your hands and being worry wart wont stop it slow it down or alter it's course. i take life as it comes, its the only way i can go about my life without worrying every waking second about what might happen in the future. we live in the present and should focus on it first.

yup, these things come when people dont expect them. september the 11th was like the most normal day u could imagine.... then look what happened :S

I believe that Feb. 2nd didn't happen because of the element of surprise, it simply wasn't there. It was already leaked out and started to become widely known that this attack was going to happen and yet didn't because it wouldn't be a surprise when it did.

I mean come on do you think these damn terrorists are going to do something thats not going to make a big impact because it's not a surprise.

I'm not sure anyone other than the al Qa'ida "predicted" an 02/02 event as concretely as is being let on here, "possibilities" of an event were discussed here on ATS as it should be. Seeking out information even if not complete and posting ones thoughts on that information for others to comment and build on seems to be what this board is all about. If the info was concrete and well known proven fact - there would'nt be much of a conspiracy worth discussing.

I don't think anyone is a "fool" for working out possibilities of what might happen bringing for the most part logical discourse on the subject matter - if only one of fifty possible events discussed here are right its still way better than the normal media that reports on events only after they have happened.

I dunno, there was ricin in the mail, and senate, and all anyone could talk about was Janet Jackson.

She was a great distraction, and continues to "out-bill" in the news, while there has been little reported on the ricin.

Last I heard "Everything is going to be allright, no need to fear, carry on talking about Janet".

Of course we can never be sure of whether of our security services in the UK and USA have thwarted any attempts?

yeah, i agree... maybe our gov'ts actually don't want anything major to happen and they are actually doing their job. just because we don't hear about it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. everyone here should be well aware of that, or so i would assume...

It doesn't matter who makes the threats. Be it al-qaeda, a different extremist group, or to satisfy some of the more paranoid ones here, our own government. It's all irrelevant. They accomplish what they want to accomplish each and every time. Why do I say that? Just look at the reaction from so many people on the internet. The root word of terrorist is Terror. Its purpose isn't to kill or maim individuals. Its purpose is to instill terror, fear, into the hearts of people. Every time someone decides that on this and this date something bad is going to happen that is exactly what they do - cause fear.

Why did 9/11 succeed? Because no one expected it. Do you honestly think that a group of extremists who's greatest acheivement came due to the element of surprise is going to post the exact date and time of their next attack? How absolutely stupid we must think they are. If surprising worked once, you do it again. No one from any terrorist organization is ever going to say "We're coming after you on January 5th" and actually try something on Jan 5th because people are prepared and waiting and watching for something to happen.
The only thing that happens from these "warnings" is on those listed dates people get scared because they let this stuff get to them.

Robert, according to the site that was quoted as the source of threats for Feb 2nd the threat was made by a Muslim extremist group to launch an attack on New York City. Perhaps that could be stretched more like it usually is into New York or other Western Interests, but Moscow? I don't think these had much to do with each other.

The point here is credibility. Right now you folks sound like a bunch of 25� Palm readers. "On Wednesday something will happen to you involving money". Gosh, thanks! I can hardly accept claiming that any incident across our planet that happened on Feb 2nd can be attributed to a fake al-qaeda (or whatever) threat on American Interests.

This is stretching it...

Why as a Terrorist would you tell your target in advance what you were going to do ?

Think outside the scope of just one organization or one country or one "ideal" target.

You have to look at the "really big" picture.

What better way to get the other super power to fight next to you, then to share a common goal.

Common threat, common foe, shared application of resources, less expense, bigger payoff. One step closer to unified goverment.

Come on, think big people, the "terrorist" threat can be used to achieve so many "other" goals.
