Here come the Locusts

It appears the Locust are going to be very bad this year.

Kenyan authorities are battling swarms of locusts, which are reported to have damaged crops.

A BBC correspondent says it is the first time such large numbers have been seen in Kenya for 45 years.

Locust swarms have been spotted in many areas in the Horn of Africa, but it is the first time since the early 1960s that large concentrations have moved into Kenya, our reporter says.

I have always kept this at the back of my mind.
These swarms are extreamly large! I was a bit shocked to learn just how many of them are there..!

Just to give you an idea.. Per Sq Km you have about 450 adult locusts for about 2-5 m.

This horde swarm was noted to be as dense as 750 sq km!! for 10-15 m!!
HOly cow!!! Thats a true swarm!! Zerg!

A sign of the times? To each their own! 2008 is comming up fast, And I can say this is sertinly a sign of a very bad bug season!! What do you think it means?

10. FIRSTBORN SLAIN - against their God OSIRIS, Lord of the Underworld.

And this happened back in 2004! So I just found this.. But in a different area.. But this has been known to happen before in other places..
Sure is creepy, and gives us a sense of something greater huh?

Well there have been locusts swarm in many years, and almost everytime they compare it with past swarms.

And I'm sure you can find more around the internet about past swarm.

so what I am trying to say is that just because they say its the worst swarm in 40 years, that isnt the same as saying its the biggest swarm ever. or that the swarm always increase in size. A small swarm just wouldnt be so interesting that they would write about it.

We just haven't even seen the hatch yet. It will make the news.
