In recent years, I've stopped following boxing as much as I once did, but this is a fight which has re-kindled my interest - the consummate boxer
against the best pressure fighter around.
Both fighters are unbeaten with Mayweather perhaps having the edge in quality of opponent (although Kosta Tszyu may argue with that) and with Hatton
having fought more times.
Personally, I think if it goes the distance, then Mayweather will win.
Hatton needs to stop him and it's difficult to see how he can do this, given Mayweathers boxing skills and ringcraft.
Let's not forget though that Hatton is also a very good boxer and had a glittering amateur career - a fighter doesn't win medals at world and ABA
levels unless he can box.
I'd love for Hatton to win, he's from my home town (I was born just a couple of miles up the road) and he's a real down to earth, working class
hero kind of bloke.
Unfortunately, I can't see it.
Yes he beat Tszyu, who was at that time regarded as one of the best pound for pound fighters, but Mayweather brings a different set of skills, not to
mention his speed and movement.
If Hatton can get close he can hurt Mayweather, and hurt him badly - and this I feel is his only real chance.
For me, Mayweather on points.
Or Hatton to stop him by the ninth.
can't make my mind up!
