can't we just say "hey, chinese guys...grats on getting that satellite up there. we snapped that area when we went up but you guys did a great job too."

i don't see why we have to question it by default. give the people some credit.

Another question, what are the odds of taking a picture with the same content in the same exact place, maybe off by just a smidgen?

Is there some kind of technical reason I'm not aware of to account for the similarity between the two pictures?

May be they targeted the same area then cropped the photo for the comparison. Here's yours , here's ours. Aren't there images of most of the moon's surface?

This is crazy. This whole Kayuga and Chinese moon photos are simple frauds. The Kayuga pictures are of a plaster of paris model of the moon and the Chinese pictures are old recycled and photoshopped NASA pictures.

I get the feeling that the NAZA NAZI'S have double crossed both Japan and China for some unknown reason by slipping them bogus pictures to release to the public.

Why didn't Japan and China take their own? Who know's.

But just watch, some conspiracy nutjob is going to come up with some off the wall weirdo conspiracy. Mark my words.

What is significant here, in my way of thinking, is that CTers are now so prevalent that this issue came up enough to be noticed by the Chinese. I guess this means that we have more notice than most peoploe admit.

That being said, they now know that there willneed to be a lot more photos to dispell any hint that these are recylcled NASA pictures.

While I tend to agree with you that the Japanese and Chinese pictures are frauds, this is the part I don't understand. China would have to be in cahoots with NASA to knowingly present a fake picture. How could NASA slip the bogus pictures in without China knowing it? I'd be more likely to believe that this is part of an under the table deal struck with those countries purely for public relation reasons.

i personally dont think it is a fake..
there are too many countries exploring and documenting the moons surface and would easily identify it as a fake, wouldnt NASA of said something by now..if not then they dont think its a fake.
i am looking forward to seeing the whole moon surface in 3D by JAXA..

if the chinese copied the nasa pic, then how is it that there's greater range in the gray scale? the nasa image is blown out (contrast is too high) in some areas. - a lot of the craters are simply black and white. you can definitely see more detail and texture in a lot of the craters in the chinese image.

jezz: according to some here we shouldn't get too excited about the JAXA stuff. after all it's just a plaster model.

So basically the Chinese are using old photos ...to to say we got there too
we have the technology .... could be part of the propaganda machine..
They can't come out and say ..it failed ...not the chinese way...

I think maybe they did see something...but it would not be in their interests to disclose, may ..have been something that they could exploit at some time!! so you have to give something as evidence you got there ....so pic a few old pics and doctor them ...and give out to the public,,,just gives time to work things out!!

Just my thoughts...it could be one of them scenarios ...you never know !!

just did some web searching on the subject...i cant seem to find any other images from "chang'e" but i did find this...certainly makes you think otherwise..about most pics from either side of globe..

yeah agreed on that ...but something more than still images is always nice..
with technology as it is now..why not High definition video of the moon instead of still images...i know they are taking high def images of deep space..so why not of the moon with out all the image editting...just my thoughts on it..must say my previous post stating not a fake..i am somewhat on the fence on the subject at this point.

But why not question what the chinese do? After all, this is a conspiracy website and don't a lot of people question and doubt most/all of what NASA does?

Maybe the reason the pics are so similar, is because every other place on the moon has objects that would tell of either a space station from the US and allies, or alien moon base, or ancient civs. or maybe even the moon is a space station theory. but you get my point.

and in the telegraph.uk.co site(from a previous poster, i do not know how to add a link yet) it looks to me that the pic from the chinese isn't as detailed as the old USA photo, aren't they suppsed to be the ones who are technically more advanced in such ares? i mean they DO make all our digital equipment and such.

I think Silicon Synapse has put something together. His other thread about China threatening to shoot down enemy space craft makes sense to me. Maybe China has seen something on the moon which they consider to be enemy. Thanks.

That the trust of the Chinese is questionable and that they seem to easily discount integrity in order to get to their goals, either in political or scientific areas, there needs to be good science applied on our end to this question.

1. We need both images in original formats.
2. layer one over another and align the images as exactly as possible.
3. animate by turning off and on the top layer.

You will immediately see any differences in either the shadows, new features (new crater), photoshop mods, etc.

This is essentially how we find asteroids, new planetoids and moons and cometary bodies (and giant alien RVs:lol in star fields.

If the shadows do not change it is highly suspect as a fake. A new crater would be a confirming element and is not hard to fake with sophisticated image-ware, but needs to be confirmed with alternate probe imagery like Clementine's or others. So proof is in the pictures.

All the posted links seemed empty and I don't have time to drill deeper, but if I can get the images I will be happy to do the work.

I would not be surprised to find a new crater. Cratering has been happening for millions of years and wont stop anytime soon.

This all started from internet chatter (blogs, forums, and so forth) - People just noting the similarities, and others making conspiracies out of it...

This is one of the things that seems most odd about this whole story.

Why would China care what the internet "nut-jobs" are saying about their photo. Who cares what the forums are saying....

Of course, China is a different culture so maybe they more readily take offense even if its from the fringe.
