The Waiouru Army Museum is welcoming the reward being offered for the return of some of New Zealand's most precious war medals.

Lord Ashcroft, a British businessman and politician, who already owns 146 Victoria Crosses, says he will pay a significant sum for information leading to the return of the medals.

They include nine Victoria Crosses and two George Cross Medals.

Given the rare nature of the medals which means they couldn't be sold in the marketplace the only logical conclusion is that some collector with a fetish for military medals is behind the robbery. Personally I am disgusted by the robbery four million people have in effect been robbed. If they catch the guy I hope they let Corporal Apiata mates at the NZSAS deal with the guilty party.
