Spell check would be an excellent addition to ATS!

I think if we have a spell check on ATS, then the quality of our members post would be improve, or at least I will understand what the heck they are talking about.

Most of us don't use spell check because we are too lazy to open up word, cut, paste and check, but if the spell check is on ATS, then most would use it, including me.

So, what do you think Mods?

When you become Mod, Zero you add it, if our current Mods don't agree.

Can we have a Mod election?

Mod election, I doubt that.

But Im all for it. Though I think this is up to the Mods, I cant say for sure if ATS'S system can handle another add on. Im clueless, I guess we wait for a mod to answer.

Fitting, its the two Indians who cant spell!

This idea has been tossed around many times.

I think the biggest reason it hasnt been used is because of the drain that it would put on an already loaded server. With the amount of traffic ATS has been receiving between members and guests it would most likely slow down navigation and it doesn't seem worth it.

I would encourage posters to check their own spelling or copy and paste from a program with a spellcheck. You might learn a thing or two if you have to look up a couple words each post. There have been some posts lately where the spelling is pretty bad, but I still think a spellcheck is lazy.

I think we can compensate for the strain by buying a new server. How? With money of course. If we all click 10 google ads a day for a month or so, that should give you enough money for you to get a new server, right?

In that new server we can spell check.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Sorry, but I don't know how to code this or anything. I am not really into computers.

Guess, there goes my idea...down the drain.

I'm against it. Pretty soon, people will lose the ability to spell correctly themselves. I think it's like having cars drive themselves, or math students with calculators.
People need to do things themselves once in a while. I hate spell-checkers...it's a tool of the lazy.
Sorry if this offends people with bad spelling.

surfup and deep....I am Indian and I won the NY Daily News Spelling Bee when I was younger...I think you two are the exception to the rule.
or wait am I the exception????

pick up a pocket dictionary, keep it near your pc.

I think this spelling issue might be a bigger deal for those people who do not use English as their first language.

Dang WorldWatcher.....you got me on that point. I didn't think about the members with English as their 2nd language. It would be a good addition to the ATS store for a low amount. Like maybe 100 pts? This way, a mamber could turn it on it he/she wished.
Thanks for showing me another take on this.

(Btw, I'm a past spelling bee winner myself.)

It wouldn't matter if he was a mod. Only admins can go in the DB and do stuff like that. Mods don't have access to that.
