is it me or does this place get less and less active every week?
why dont the mods or admins send out a burst U2U to everyone reminding them of this place.

since right now it only looks like me and a few others are just posting here

It does seem to be getting that way.

Even with the Mod's announcement of the elections coming back, we've seen nothing since.

You're right too. It seems like it's just me, you and xpert around here now. At least for the most part...

Given the political environment in this country, I think many people have thrown their hands in the air and said, "To hell with it." That's just my impression, but that's the one that I get.

I get that feeling sometimes as well. However, I wish that people would realize that saying "to hell with it" is not the way to fix the problem. This is a democracy, the people have a duty to be involved in their government.

I'm worried that people are adopting the, "let the government fix itself" attitude

I'm worried further that this will prime them for the "we'll take care of everything" socialist state people like Hillary are proposing.

NYK, that's about what this country is headed towards. What worries me about such a system is that it gives some maniac leverage to gain office and say, "Okay, we will feed, clothe, house and give you health care, AS LONG AS YOU DO AS WE SAY." Of course, that would be fine and dandy with some people.

I've had that feeling before as well.

I think what needs to happen is they need to appoint someone who is actually an ACTIVE member of PTS to forum moderator or something. I think this would work better than having a mod with other duties "trying to make time" for PTS.

I think it's the only way to go...

I havent been here in a few weeks.

There is just too much Anti-American sentiment by some of the most ignorant people on the planet- blathering about denying ignorance no less.

A lot of what Ive read here has gotten exponentially worse for the last few years. In fact if I heard, on the street, some of what I've read here, I'd have been passing out a lot of...something - I get to that mode, decide I've had enough, leave the website for awhile, and listen to what I hear on the steet just in case I have the chance to straighten someone out.

There are soooo few normal people here. After awhile I start thinking the loons here are normal and that's a mistake I'm getting better at catching now.

you were un happy that people arent worshipping the united states here?

You say, "worship." All I want is respect. Dignity. Tolerance. Each of these is at such a low level here usually (there are occasional shining moments), that to see any at all might seem to constitute worship. But only if you nutcases are the only people you talk to.

Your response is exactly the flippant, off-hand disrespect that is so easy on a board like this - but try it on the street...

Time for me to leave again already. Dont miss me too much wondering where everyone is...

maybe people have started "protesting" in the real world, rather than just online... on the other hand, probably not...

interesting bit of market research I conducted.... I posted a thread about ruling the world with passive resistance and though a hundred people checked it out in its first hour, only a couple of people responded and then finally some "weirdo" became the thread killer... in the end i thought "maybe only rabid dogs get attention here".... that becomes very tiring when trying to find some social solution... my 2 cents

This forum isnt very active because the powers that be effectively killed the ATS election when the political process didn't take place. Rather then starting a fresh they are trying to revive a dead horse and that is why there is very little interest.

What I'm trying to figure out is where it says that whomever is elected is only going to be covering the real elections. I don't recall seeing that anywhere. Did SO mention that in his first post? I just don't remember seeing it is all.

Thanks go out to anyone that looks.

Does this clear things up for you ?

Our newly elected President and Vice President team will be awarded their own dedicated forum on AbovePolitics.com (and "Politics" menu item on the ATS content archive) where they will become the site's official political commentators on the events leading up to the actual election in 2008 and more.

Awesome. Thanks xpert. I DID just miss it. It isn't often that I do that quite that glaringly. I'm so glad that you caught that.

Thanks again,

I, personally, don't see any reason to be involved in the polticial side here. It is pretty much the same as in the real world. Favored folks are chosen and away it goes.

And at the risk of sounding cynical... No. People aren't involved in any major governmental reformatting in the "real"world. At the moment, a good many of them are simply trying to survive. Many that are coming here, anew, have little to no understanding of real world poliical issues, and seem to spend their solving the world's issues from behind their keyboards, and generally calling each other names, and carrying on.

There has been a large number of "old timers" that either have moved on, or have simply stopped posting. And while I am no big deal, I have come pretty close to doing that, myself.

I'm sorry that you feel that way. ATS is on it's way to becoming much bigger, and as such, will be getting a LOT more traffic here very soon. As a result of this increase in traffic, there will be an influx of new people that will benefit from anything that any one of us, you included, could provide to them. We need to think of this as an opportunity to make a huge difference in the way people think; not the way in which we want them to think.

To accomplish this, we must continue to post. The Admins have said this from the start too. How does one start a revolution in thinking? By arming the masses with information!! This information can be used to whatever ends that the end user sees fit. Information is a double-edged sword though. It can be used for either good or evil. The question comes down to one thing: Can you take what you learn here and use it to make a positive impact on the world in which you live? If you can say yes, then why would you ever want to leave such a fine place?

Viva La Resistance!!
