Hello,

I have had a keen interest in the Cydonia region of Mars for a number of years. When the NASA Mars mapping probe beamed back to Earth the best pictures of Cydonia in the late 1990's, I saw something that no one else seems to have picked up on.

If you take the picture of the Face, turn it upside down, staring you in the face is the picture of a GREY..!!!

I will try to upload my picture I made in 2001 of the "Grey" face on Mars.

I can't upload the picture into my space here on ATS because I haven't made enough posts yet and I can't get to grips with posting an image on another site that links from here???? It's way over my head..sorry.

Some help or patience from the moderators would be greatly welcome.

Regards

Timeslice.

I sadly dont have premium account on megaupload and have to wait 10h for a window to download

But the easiest way would be for you to upload the image to imageshack.us...

I am of the thought that the Cydonia "face" is in fact nothing more than a normally shaped land mass that our human brains, which are programmed for certain pattern recognition, causes us to see things in it under certain lighting conditions that are not there.

I could find hundreds of examples of things like this on earth...in the clouds, in my backyard, in my soap bubbles as I shower....it's the frame of mind and the overwhelming desire for people to believe in the most improbable conclusion first that perpetuates myths such as the Cydonia "face".

Hi,

You luckly dont need a premium account, it only takes 45 seconds to wait.

I will try the other site but I won't hold my breath.

Timeslice i embed your pic so everyone can see it with no need to wait

I would like also to point out that if it's a grey today, it couldn't have been yesterday, since the face has CHANGED:

But of course, i could be wrong

"Unfortunately, all available bandwidth is currently reserved for our premium customers. Therefore, free downloads will be unavailable for the next 10 hours." I dont think 45 seconds will cut it

Maybe it's a matter of luck!

It took to me 45 seconds to download it

It's called pareidolia, the ability of the human mind to see patterns as being significant, and appear as something else.

I wish it were so, Timeslice - but the evidence is leaning further away from the "the face" being anything but a natural formation.

Incidentally - your idea, though interesting, is not very original. The movie "Mission to Mars" (c.2000) already tried this angle. The movie was only so-so, but the concept was beautiful - too bad the box office results reflected the former sentiment more than the latter...

Someone needs to remind Mikesingh about this: he sees worms, cities, all sorts of things that I just can't make out unless i use a whole lot of imagination (and maybe have a few beers first).:w:

I would have to shoot some jager bombs and smoke a big fat one to see what Mike see's.

I don't see anything but a bunch of mars dirt.

From all the reports i read the "greys" dont have a nose, regardless this is just clutching at straws

I think you are pushing the grey face a bit... although there is some type of face.

You may want to try Flickr or photobucket as they are wonderful and easy to use sites to upload images to link to. They are also free- you can upgrade for very little money $25.00 a year from photobucket and they will split the payments if your strapped for cash.

I hope this helps.

I am inclined to agree with you solarsky- I don't see anything either- its the imaginative Mann-In-The-Moon thingymajig we all saw that face as kids and now we are seeing the same thing on Mars.

Given the incredible powers of the mind after a bit of focus we can convince ourselves of anything- and with the help of some beers- the convincing is less painful and comes quicker!

I think this settles the argument once and for all:

Maybe it is just me, but I always thought that the face resembled that of the sphinx, or a lion. I guess it could look like just about anything if you really want it to.
