Tunnel excavation at Stanford University

Anyone heard of 2 huge tunnels being excavated on the outskirts of the Stanford University campus hillside? i know someone who works for a sub-contractor doing the work and he says that they are excavating around the clock to finish the 2 tunnels. He also mentioned that fellow employees asked what they are going to use them for but the guys in charge are not allowed to disclose the purpose of the excavation...odd. I used to work at Stanford University and i am familiar with the surroundins, the area where they are excavating is againts a mountain side on the outskirts of the University property.
