Word has reached my ear that the USA will, in fact, invade Iran in January. The U.S. has quietly called-up eighty thousand (80,000) reserve troops and is presently retraining them in specialized combat tactics.

I hesitated to post this story due to MR. Turners racist views, but I thought it would be best to ask forgiveness later if wrong. I would appreciate any validation to this claim by Mr. Turner if it can be found.

I would not be surprised if this were true, however I can not take the source seriously. Thus far I have been unable to find any other sources that verify the claims and until I find another source this is nothing but rumor to me.

Since when did Congress run the wars? What the Pontiff wants he gets........Lets just hope this is just a crazy rumor. Do we even have 80,000 troops in reserve???

i believe so there was a issue about being able to keep reserves on active duty pay because of funding not too long ago.

Our military is so thin, and volunteers so scarce, that getting half this many troops up would be about all the US could do short of reinstating the draft. IMO.

And this source is, well, let us say unreliable. About anything. Again, IMO.

I have several Officers that work for me that are in several different Reserve units and they were not called up....

I would question even the United States ability to "quietly" call up 80K people.....

The army and marines are stretched thin at the moment, it would be crazy to call on another ground offensive without a military draft. The most logical means to strike Iran would be through the use of aircraft....not ground pounders. Then Iran gets to strike back.......hmmmm

The recruiting offices filled after 9/11. Imagine what they would look like after a nuclear event...

80000 additional troops fighting a war against the Iranian home front given their population and army... get a grip. Only, and I say, Only Nukes would even make a dent and it would not win the conflict. The calamity would be huge... nothing would stop Iran from crushing the US in this engagement given the usage of the armed forces now.

Saddam had hundreds of thousands of troops and just stalemated. If anyone is so arrogant to think that US advanced technology will save the day is a fool. It will definitely help, but the art of war and the current constraints call for the Iranians to win. The US would walk out crippled and removed as a superpower. It will be like the Soviet Union after Afghanistan.

Total stupidity. If Iran does get a nuclear weapon they are checked by India, Isreal, US, France, Britain and even Russia. Usage of a Nuke is the last line in the sand. Anyway I am more worried about our great democratic dictatorship partner - Pakistan.... Look there for troubles.

A guerrilla war in Iran would be a mess, but if Iran chose to fight a conventional war against the US, even with the current situation, they would have their rearends handed to them.

I don't see how that many troops culd be called up quietly. Let's just say this source is not relieable in my opinion.

Excuse me if I sound naive, but what good would 8ok soldiers do in Iran? Wouldn't they be lost in the sea of millions? If Iran were to attack any other country it would take a heck of a lot more than 80k. And ground troops would not be the way that we would ever go anyway. Those days are over, especially for the initial shock and awe stage...

So this is his credible source? The story is so full of holes that it's sunk already to the ocean floor. I don't know much about Hal's track record for speaking the truth, but this isn't one of those times.
