Does anyone have any input on the alarming increase in the number of children diagnosed with autism? I’m not a medical expert but from what I read on the subject, to go from 1 in 10,0000 to 1 in 150 in little over a decade is difficult to accept (That is of course if the data presented is correct). Is this one of the methods the global elites are utilizing to either cull the population or dumb us down? Or is it simply greedy pharmaceutical corporations cutting a few corners at the expense of the general population (Mercury in the vaccines, etc.). I find it hard to believe that our gene structure alone is on a downward slope. It would be nice to hear from John Lear and Jim Marrs on this one.

I have a son, though not officially labeled as autistic, who has many, many autistic tendencies. Aside from the autistic features, he cannot speak, has limited strength when walking, is not toilet trained, is epileptic, and does not know how to feed himself properly. I have researched the topic of autism a great deal in the almost 10 years since his birth and I believe a big factor is actually that many more doctors and specialists are diagnosing more and more children with this.

I believe that in the past many children may have gone undiagnosed or had the autistic qualities attributed to other issues. Over time, the trend has gone the other way. In other words, the rate of diagnosis has actually increased rather than just the rate of occurrence. Again, this is just my personal opinion but I do know I have read about this as a factor in the media.

i wouldnt be at all surprised if it is traced back directly to the endless batteries of immunization shots children get

they've suspiciously increased in number and frequency as well...

if you chart the two, i bet similarities would become apparent.

although the same could be said for aritificial sources of radiation as well... microwave, cell phone, radio, television, etc...

we're soaking in broadcast radiation since conception... sound healthy?

We should be wary of assuming correlation=causation. The radiation we're bathed in lacks the power to mutate our genes. The increase in autism diagnoses is most definitely due to the fact that more doctors know what autism is, and more is being found out about the condition on an almost daily basis.

I think it has more to do with the fact that back in the day,
when the "slow kid" of the family was either dropped off
at an institution or just locked up inthe attic..
then theres the strong possibility of mis-diagnosis.

Like the other posters have said, a lot of it has to do with the changes in diagnosing the disease. I also believe that the definition of the disease itself has changed in recent history. More and more disabilities now fall under the autism umbrella.

I would attribute it to the fact that there's no set criteria for autism. What I mean is, unlike a disease you can't run a blood test and know positively that they have autism. Rather, autism is more a semi-agreed upon set of traits.

About 2 years ago, what would be classified as autistic was drastically changed to levels that would include a lot of children never before diagnosed, or just diagnosed with learning abilities. I don't know if it is good or bad that all these children get included, becasue treatments are always based on findings. Now that so many of these children have been diagnosed as autisitc, they forgo basic speech therapy and instead focus on intense and often drastic measures, OFTEN including drug therapy.

Sometimes the easiest explantion will now be overlooked due to the new reporting standards.

with the exception of the one poster, do any of you have an autistic child? do any of you really know what you are talking about? i do. my 17 year old boy is autistic. it is not easy. his autism traits run the spectrum. he almost never speaks, more sounds than anything. toilet problems. very child like. yet he is very bright, figures things out pretty good, has a good memory and has a very sweet nature. i would describe his autism as being lost in a really good daydream. you know when you have one of those and a bomb could go off next to you and you do not hear it? true, some are probably diagnosed that should not be, but ours is the real deal, and it is painful.

even though i would not trade the world for him and i treasure him dearly, there is not a day that passes that i wish i knew what brought this on him. he diagnosed when he was 2.5. we thought that he was going deaf. my wife and i had to practically yell to get his attention. for what its worth, i was in the navy when he was born at fort lewis in tacoma, wa. at madigan army hospital. i was stationed on the nimitz (cvn68) at bremerton and was a radar operator (os). he was diagnosed at oakland naval hospital right here in the bay area.
