White House Tells Musharraf: Never 'Restrict Constitutional Freedoms' To Fight Terrorism

thinkprogress.org

During today’s White House press briefing, spokeswoman Dana Perino condemned Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s declaration of “emergency rule” in Pakistan. She said that the administration is “deeply disappointed” by the measure, which suspends the country’s constitution, and believes it is never “reasonable” to “restrict constitutional freedoms in the name of fighting terrorism”:

Q: Is it ever reasonable to restrict constitutional freedoms in the name of fighting terrorism?

MS. PERINO: In our opinion, no.

Talk about being two faced!

Here they are condemning a country for restricting constitutional rights, when they have been stomping all over our constitution.

How about:
1) Warrantless Wire Tapping
2) No Habeas Corpus if you are detained as a terrorist suspect
3) Allowing the FBI to obtain personal info. and data on people by use of secret “national security letters”

These are the people who should be telling Musharraf not to "restrict" HIS countries constitutional rights?
