Maybe it's just because I'm a loudmouth, but I just watch for threads that I'm interested in, and I post what I think. Sure, I write a lot, but
I've only been here about seven months, and the points have come because I spoke my mind.
Some people agreed with me, some didn't. Sometimes I got applause, and other times my posts were ignored. I started threads that did well, and some
that never got a reply.
What I'm saying is, be yourself. Either points will happen or not. And points are only good for so much anyway. Once I bought into RATS, what could I
do with more points? I'm not into egotistical spending for backgrounds or whatever, as I figure it's what I say that counts, not how cool I look
doing it.
Sure, a lot of points under your name is a certain measure of how active you are on ATS, but the truth is that someone can win a single contest and
get 20,000 points. That same person may start two threads a year and get 20 responses from them in total. Another person may only have 2745 points,
but every time they post it is something really worth reading, and their two posts a year are the top of the line.
ATS is a place to speak your mind, and points are not a big part of that. Points whores are never really into the content for anything more than ego.
They don't do anything more than try to be one step above a troll, and it shows.
Bottom line: it's what you say, and how you say it, that counts, IMO. The rest of it is just window dressing. Find something you care about and speak
your piece on it. Whatever happens after that is just an outcome of what you see as the truth. It's your chance to deny ignorance that counts, not
how many, or how few, points that are under your name.
