Extraterrestrials...Mistaken for Gods, Goddesses, Angels, and Demons

ya know, it is possible that somewhere out there in creation there are creatures that well, people's emotions could have a profound effect on them. they could actually kind of feed off of those emotions, and well, we are what we eat, aren't we...it
so, if one of these creatures would come into contact with a group of people who are scared to death of them, thinking that they are some angry god, or some kind of monster, well......the creature would react accordingly, and maybe even physically transform into what was thought...
thus, the an angel could also be a demon......just depends on the reaction of the crowd.

That is a good one dawnstar, haven't thought of that Yes, just as plausible as anything. The belief that your emotions effect your environment has been around for ages, but majority are more prone to think it only effects living things who in response, counteract that emotion with it's same or opposite. But then again that would also imply in the religious sense that God is also Satan, just when people fear him. So the religious communities would throw it out the window and tell you you're wrong even though they say all the time "God doesn't tell us EVERYTHING. Just what he wants us to know". And telling them that the Creator is the good one who loves them as well as the evil one who wants them all to suffer, isn't really gonna get big raves. know what I mean? lol.

But still, just as plausible and I thank you for your idea put forth on the this thread here's another idea. What if the angels/demons aren't just other entities, but rather the part of ourselves we consider to be good or evil that exist as separate entities who constantly duel it out. Think of it like the angel and demon on your shoulders telling you what to do, but minus you. And the apocalypse that the religious community wants so much, is when all that energy from our good/evil collective consciousness of all the life in the universe suddenly has it's own big bang and they are able to exist in our form of reality. They start their war in which we spectators have no choice but to be in awe and watch, and they both decide "hey, it's not us that's the problem. We won't die until the thing that keeps us in existence has passed" and turn on us. Oh my, this is good.

I finally have an idea for a new book! Thank you double dawnstar If I write it and it gets published, I'll make sure to dedicate it to ya for getting me in rant mode XD

There is no gods - there is only beings!

The viking beliefs had many gods, an they resembled different parts of everyday life. Some gods, in that kind of "fantasy", were purely constructed or came into "being" because of the need for a "water god". What would be the point of having a fire god if not having a water god too - therefore i do not belive that all beliefs are rooted in ancient encounters. We are just to good, as humans, to imagening things so hard they in culture become true in the end. Fake it until you make it principles!!!

But some gods had some interesting features that in ways of interpretation were more "human" than others.
One of my favorite gods is the Thundergod Thor! He had the traits im speaking of, being human in a particular modern way that today seems very close to our reality. Let me shortly explicit:

When he threw his mighty hammer (called "Mjølner" in danish) it allways went back to him again. He threw - and it returned to his hand!
Well well well - interesting.
If you put a person from our future in the age of vikings, you could choose to equip him with something as simple as a gun. If the viking allready took the "future-guy" for being Thor, he would have a very different perception of the "slay" of an enemy of Thor!
In our present we simply know that the man is wielding a gun - no surprise for any to figure out what happens when he pulls the trigger - but the viking would look at this action very differently. He sees Thor with "something" mystical, which has got to be his hammer, in his hand. "Thor" makes a pointing movement with his arms (he aims) and then a big bang... the enemy goes down - and Thor still stands with his hammer in his hands. Wow.. this must have taken no more than a sec, but to the untrained eye of the viking.. well he just threw the damn thing and its back in his hands.

I would say that this is one of those moments where vikings just fell on their knees with awe and godly fear. But to a spaceman holding his gun, it was the funkiest way to win respect with a pull of a finger.

Another aspect was that the vikings allways believed Thor to ride across the sky making lightning with his hammer - well thats just an integrated way of imagening him and his might , but it seems to me that all civilisations has the same perception of gods going over the skies with fire and lightning - arriving from the skies.
