It's not just you, it's been happening to me as well. I'm not using Vista though, but IE7 and XP pro SP2.

IE is garbage -- get Firefox, it's a great, free browser to use w/ Vista...

The machine I'm on now is XP Pro SP-2 but I can change out the OS HDD for Vista Platinum x86 32-bit... and it does crash on various SWF content... mostly when multiple tabs are open. I think the current Flash player is v 9.0.47.0. Vista is a pretty "toad" but a toad nevertheless. Try Moz or Opera?

EDIT: Perhaps try checking the Event Viewer? I think there is an IE log... you may have to enable it. Many early troubles went away when Dad turned off the UAC.

I hate to do this to a fine thread, well no I enjoy it, but dude. Microsoft is dead, and before It killed itself, as it was alone in the corner with a knife to it's neck it said: "I was wrong, go buy a Mac." and Microsoft was never heard from again. The End.

Well it has to be said, 10.5 Leopard is ATS friendly.

I have many problems with Vista and INTERNET explore, also, I fix the problem in this order.

Uninstall McAfee, spam killer was one of the problems of loading blank pages.

Upgrade adobe flash player, second problem due to freezing pages and reseting.

Update any other flash player you using.

Actually yesterday I got a pop from Microsoft telling me do exactly what I already did.

shame that Apple over price their machines
otherwise i might of bought one (£1300+ for a decent computer)

MS may be a bitch sometimes but its been good to me so far

no i agree, apple does run to the bank laughing, but you do get what you pay for. I'd suggest trying to find a first gen, slimmed down, used G5. You will pay very little and get quite allot. Many will not agree with me on this, and of course it depends on your application, but i know several people who have taken this route and are very very satisfied.

Just get Xandros, which is Linux based. It has "crossover", which works most everything same as windows. Not hard to learn, runs it all, no bugs or hacks. It's the wave of the future, when the web is a place of freedom and open source software.

Xandros as a CD download is about $60.00USD and even easier to install than Windows. Plus, you can use it and keep Windows on your machine. Dual boot or single into either. And you can transfer between the two in dual boot.

Arrrggg! I hate Apple, smug so and so's always slating Windows and Linux are the main reson why I would rather chop my own hand off rather than touch anything that is associated with Apple!

I used to have the same problems with Flash content crashing my browser on occasion, it hasnt happened for a while, I think the Vista reliability and performance patches take care of the problem.

Have a search in Google for these reliability and performance patches, you can get them from here:

www.howtogeek.com...

I hope it helps you guys out!

Although I have my own issues with Macrohard, I will still avoid anything having to do with Steve I-want-your-Jobs. Apple runs only Apple, is upgradeable only by Apple, uses only Apple components, etc., etc. Plus, the whole iPod - iEverything thing is scaring me: I want my kids back...

My advice (in addition to some good suggestions here) is load Firefox, but keep IE. Default to Firefox for most web activity (including ATS), but invoke IE when an issue arises or to test. I've never had favorites/bookmarks disappear on Firefox, so not sure what that's about.

Vista has been virtually bulletproof for me and my clients. Too many choices - some of which I've never seen, but the ones I've been working with have been very robust and the users love it.

I think a lot of the armor has to do with the Chinese and their RE/pirating of everything digital in the world. I have a friend who comes back from regualr trips to China with suitcases full of first-run movies and software - including all the latest OS/Xbox u-name it. Avg price: $1 (US cash preferred, of course).

My 2 cents?

IE sucks and so does Vista. I have both at home. Wife's computer. I run XP with Firefox and my machine runs WAY faster than hers.

I'm on hers right now.

Edit: To add, hers is 4 years newer and had the Duo core processor.

1) "Upgrade" from Vista down to XP (Trust me I bought a new computer in feb 07 that came with vista and after pulling out my hair for a few months I "upgraded" back to XP Pro and low and behold no more ripping out hair)

2) Use Firefox.

That's odd, I never have that problem. Might be in your settings.
