that's how the clouds my friend and i saw but since it was around 2:30 pm they were white. but they looked "too real" to be clouds and they never changed at all. for the most part they looked almost exactly the same and they were smaller and lower than other clouds that day

Actually, at night thick clouds usually have an orange tinge to them due to light sources on the ground. I would be very surprised if they appeared black at night if they were low. The only clouds that would appear black during the night are the high level clouds (depending on the city) as the light doesnt get up that high to 30,000ft
