Well, if you want to find out, the website below can show you how to get your file or anybody else's.

Do You Have an FBI File?

This web site helps you generate the letters you need to send to the FBI to get a copy of your own FBI file. We can help you get your files from other "three-letter agencies" (CIA, NSA, DIA, ...) too. It's quick, it's easy, and best of all, it's free! Just click on the green arrow to get started!

(If you're looking for FBI files on someone else, our sister web site, Get Grandpa's FBI File, can help you obtain FBI files for deceased individuals.)

So, if you've been feeling a little paranoid lately, go ahead and see if they actually do have a file on YOU.

Wow! I am going to do this! I am just going to leave all the blanks empy (except for the New Orleans checkmark) and see what documents print.

Of course, after I send them and they are received, I am going to be listed.

Awesomely interesting post!

I'm tempted just for curiosity's sake, but I'd be bummed if by asking, I created a file that didn't previously exist. I'll pass.

Oh, I'd be willing to bet I have at least a small file. I'm doing this. Thanks for posting the link!

I would be pretty darn sure I have one, as I had to go through US Customs clearance to do airport work a number of years ago. I had a boss recently, who was having his employees fingerprinted so he could have a private investigator run background checks on them, and I found out that the PI sent the prints to the FBI, who keeps them on file. As I had been an employee for a long time, I simply told my boss at the time if he wanted my fingerprints he could obtain them from US Customs, or off my cold dead hands, and refused to give them to him. Knowing how paranoid I am about the whole RFID thing, he found it amusing and let it drop.

Point is though; if you have gone through an HR department that does that level of background check, you most likely have your prints on file there.

I'd even be paranoid enough to say that this could be a data-extraction scheme. I'll pass, hehe.

Speaking of the FBI, does anyone know the story on David Copperfield?

Anybody got any background on why his warehouse was raided and he's under investigation?

They want you to apply over the net, so that they can use a keystroke logger on your computer to track your subsequent moves, even at ATS . . .

I have TWO files actually. I had friends in college that were friends with some people who went off the deep end and caused an "incedent" on the news . . . .

And then I refused to work for an alphabet agency when I was working overseas. They try to get archaeologists to join the CIA etc. Not that I'm anti-american, but they cannot keep a secret, and once another state learns you have taken money from american intel, you'll never get another travel visa or a permit to go in the bush on surveys.

What I specifically refused was to help them in Eastern Europe before communism fell. I had skills in reading, um . . . technical maps published by foreign agencies--for their use in archaeological surveys. Uncle wanted me to look at some other maps, and write little essays concerning how maps had been altered. I refused, and even told uncle why I couldn't ruin my career this way. Black spot on my record, and academic career too.

I'm happier in business anyway. I get free drinks now.

I started the application process of applying for the FBI before I graduated from college. I eneded up dropping out before I graduated and am now back in it.

I still would be curious what mine says
But I wouldnt fill in my private info on this site...I have no idea who it is collecting it. LOL

Thanks. I left everything blank ( 15 letters) and will fill them in after I print them.
This is very useful and I'm sure I have a file since I worked for DOD earlier in my career.

Yeah, I have an FBI file having to do with my need to have a TOP SECRET security clearance at one time in my distant past. I don't know how up to date it is, though. It's not like the FBI has infinite resources to keep tabs on some dope like me.

But if there's anybody out there tracking my activities on this forum, just want to let you know that I'm doing okay. Thanks for watching!

P.S. -- I'm sure that if you didn't have a file prior to checking on the website, you do now. Congratulations!

Sometimes, you can hide more, by what you reveal, than what you conceal.

It isn't a scam.. you can leave the name fields blank then fill in your name later.. It's basically just a Freedom of Information Act Request. I'd be curious to hear from people who got back files on them. Post if you have

Get George H. W. Bush's file. See if it has any association with Dallas, Cubans or any reference to Hoover during Kennedy's assasination.

You might be surprised.

Most people don't realize that Bush "never" worked for the CIA until he became director. Yeah right. At the time of Kennedy's assassination, JFK had Hoover and the FBI investingating the CIA because of the Bay of Pigs incident. The CIA didn't like this. Bush, working under the CIA, had been running Cubans and anti-Castro supporters back and forth to cuba via his island off the coast of Florida.

Somehow he ended up in Dallas the day JFK died and Bush was in Hoovers office the next day. Hoover documented it in a memo. Decades later, when asked about the memo, Bush said he was never in Dallas and Hoover must have made reference to another George Bush.

The CIA got Bush's cronies to go to Dallas and off the president in a flex-of-muscle display of power. Then sent Bush to Hoovers office to say, "What? You want to investigate us? You wanted to ask us some questions?"

What chance would Hoover had stood if the CIA had just eliminated the President of the United States? Not much. But, being a master of intelligence, he was smart enough to make a memo of the visit for future investigators to reference.

This is tempting, as I'm sure that everyone has an FBI file. If you have ever used a credit card or have a bank account I'll bet that all that info already exists in some network somewhere.

I'm sure they could dig up oodles of info on anyone they want, its just the criminal and/or illicit activity that they would have to dig in another drive for. Combine the two and presto.

Just think about what lengths they go to for an applicant to an alphabet agency. They'll find your kindergarden teacher and ask her about you. They dig up things you forgot about yourself.

Point being, eveyone has a file of some sort somewhere. I dont see a reason why you would want to ask for it? Thats just giving them more of a reason to raside a red flag on your profile and track your every move.

I have a secret clearance, so yes, I have an FBI file.

So does anyone who's ever been a member of the armed forces, at least since the advent of fingerprinting.

I see a couple of posts already saying what I was going to say.

I had a background check and security clearance for my DOD job a few years back. So, yeah, I have an FBI file.

I also have a ham license, so I have an FCC file too!

Big deal...
