Go to MSNBC.com article

A high school student who was hospitalized for more than a week with an antibiotic-resistant staph infection has died, and officials shut down 21 schools for cleaning to keep the illness from spreading.

Seems that more and more of these cases of resistance forming in infections are appearing.

I'm actually really surprised no one else has posted on this thread. A number of cases were reported where I live. It's a big deal around here, calling for announcements throughout the school systems, fumigation of facilities, etc.

Someone has/had it at my college recently. They, apparently, shut down all of the sport facilities, as a coach had it, too. We all received an e-mail about it. This was in NY, if any are interested. Weird, huh?

I think it is kind of funny that now there is a big deal being made about this. MRSA has existed in hospitals and nursing homes for a long long time, yet I keep hearing the news saying a "new, deadly superbug". Leave it up to the news to over-hype yet one more thing and keep the population in fear!
