Ours is in 2009.

Our FCC has deallocated the VHF/UHF spectrum used for television. I don't like it one bit as once it goes digital that opens the door to eventually make it a pay-service. So you'll have to pay for the airwaves as well as watch commercials. I don't have cable for a reason. I'm not about to start paying for broadcast TV.

But that's speculative. For now DTV just means better picture and sound.

The currently used frequency spectrum will be auctioned off most likely to cellular providers. Selling portions of the EM spectrum always makes me snicker. I wonder if I can buy blue... or green.

Nah, Feb 2009.

Full details here: www.dtv.gov...

That's the end-of-the-road date though. Most stations should have switched by then.

we really should have HD channels sod digitial, HD tv's are so cheap now and available all over the place so why have we not got HD channels like USA has????

i think 2014 is when we might get HD broadcasts just after digitial is available to everyone, and analog is dead.

And HD channels beter be free and not pay to view rubbish, whenoh when does the BBCloose its TV liecense rights??? does it not run out soon so we should have no licence to pay at all like USA???

pfft this country we pay for everything im surprised we not charged for the air yet.........
