I didn't view the videos, but great idea. Just seems it would only work in low winds from the description and that it would get torn apart in higher winds. Maybe, maybe not.

As for the 30x more efficient, I can see that. There is no friction from gears, less stagnate inertia to overcome when starting it up, and gravity also somewhat plays a role, as the wind would blow it up, then gravity would pull it back down, creating the wave pattern.

looks pretty simple, but always helps to get a headstart from the knowledge of the inventor.

Did anyone research this further or shall I be the one?

edit - just looked a bit deeper. apparently only produces 40mW, so not much there, but perhaps can be easily upscaled. Still, you'd need a thousand of them to power a normal lightbulb!

if upscaling works, I don't see why this should be labelled for 3rd world. why not one in everyone's back yard

very interesting. it seems wind energy is taking many turns in new directions i was reading in popular science about man made tornadoes powering turbines to generate electricity. its good to see that the world isnt just taking the option of bio-fuels and running with that but steps are being made in all sorts of alternative energy. i would truly like to see this implemented on a large scale it deffinitely couldnt hurt great find BTW. its amazing the simple observations can turn into something like this wish i wouldve thought of it but i lack the insight. lol
