Not sure if this is the right place.

These are just some thoughts of mine. Scientists and mathematicians say that there are a maximum of 11 dimensions that we can show so far. There could even possibly be more.

My thoughts are that if we can only really see 3 and experience 4 (time)dimensions, what could possibly be above that? If we look at a graph and see that the x-axis is the 1st dimension, the y-axis is the 2nd, and adding a z-axis would be a 3rd. This is how we can map out where anything is in space/3rd dimesion. Now, if we add another 90 degree angle that becomes WHEN to the equation, or a point in time to go with a point in space, now we have a 4th.

So this gets me wondering if things like intergalactic space travel would be more possible if we could find a way to transcend to a 5th or higher dimension. Perhaps even things like thought are already there in another dimension of which we cannot see, yet do exist in more places/cause things to happen than just in your head. Could this even be where God or the fabric of space reside, making things like the Law of Attraction actually true? Maybe we are all more connected than we think through other dimensions. And maybe things like souls are real not just through some Biblical beliefs, but through actual physics and multidimensions.

Thinking this way makes a lot of things that John Lear talks about or aliens or soul catchers or intergalactic travel much more feasible I think. Does anyone else have any opinions about what these other dimensions could involve or be or have contained within them?

Math shows 11 dimensions. We aren't even halfway there. This, I think, could make things previously thought to be PARAnormal, normal.

If something 4d were to appear in front of my face, I would be able to see part of it, but not the whole thing, just the part that is touching our "dimension." Imagine you are a 2d stick figure, and someone put a coffee cup on the piece of paper you "lived" in. You would only be able to see circle the bottom of the cup makes, but it would appear to be a straight line, since you can only see it from the side. (I got that analogy from a discover magazine.) Anyways, I figure you would be able to see a part of any multidimensional object, but not the part that resides in the higher dimensions.

Hmmm, that's a good analogy. So we can see the parts that are in 3d, but cannot see something in 5d because our brains/reality would not be able to comprehend it. So could there truly be aliens or spirits or something else walking amongst us, even through us without ever knowing? It's funny that it SOUNDS paranormal, yet could one day be within the grasp of OUR physics/knowledge.

Couldn't this also mean that there are alternate realities literally sitting right on top of us?

Hmmm, 2nd page already? I would love to hear other people's input on this subject and how this could possibly NOT be true. It seems to me like skeptics are strictly about what they can see or prove, but this is evidence that could very well point to something more.

Some folks hypothesize one might travel up-dimensionally by "crawling a brane" on something like an old style radio carrier. Maybe a bit like surfing could be an analogy. Lots of buzz about this. Wired had a bit, "How To Test for an 11-Dimension Universe? Stay Tuned..." recently that got me interested again... actually I got the notion to "go looking" from ATS (thanx schu' :up
. Hmmm,
.

I found this PDF format document called "Stringscape" that I really enjoyed, seems that the hunt for "the" equation to make the up-dimensions explainable in a conceptual framework is the next step. The rest seems "up-hill" from there. Yikes! Here's a link to the PDF. Some folks will read this and be intimidated by the "egg-head" factor - give it a chance... you could have fun. Um, one of my favs is Hawking's, A Brief History Of Time... a great read. I think Brian Greene has some stuff on PBS.org (or did) that was neat too.

Cheers,

Vic

Cool. Thanks for this info. I'm going to have to read through it all when I have the time to mull it over. A lot of this stuff goes back to Dr. Michu Kaku's theories. Here is a thread talking about him:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

He also has a great analogy of fish and multidimensions. He basically says that a fish cannot see you until you bring him into your world, then all of a sudden it realizes all this other stuff is real, he just couldn't see it in his "dimension". It truly makes me wonder what could be right here that we cannot see or comprehend.

Thanks again for the post and info.

No, you couldn't see the higher dimensional parts of the object because they aren't there. Think of the stick people. They can't see the rest of the coffee cup because it doesn't exist in their universe. And the fish analogy is a bit off, since a 3d being in a 4d world wouldn't be able to move around very easily. If you read the wiki on 4d space it explains a lot about it.

But how do we know that higher dimensions don't exist here? Here's something I found:

www.telegraph.co.uk.../earth/2007/10/10/scitime110.xml

This basically talks about 2 dimensions of time. Just because we don't experience it first hand (or maybe we do, we just don't know it), doesn't mean that it doesn't exist here and around us. Dr. Michu Kaku is one of the most brilliant minds out there, so to say his fish analogy is off I think is a bit of a stretch.

Basically, I think it would make more sense that our minds couldn't comprehend it, and therefore not experience it/know it existed, than to say that it just isn't here.

Thx.

The physical perception of a multiverse has always fascinated me. I vaguely remember a professor attempting to explain what it would be like to experience the fourth dimension. If I remember correctly he said it would involve being able to view, for instance, a building at all angles at once. I know that's lame, I wish I could remember more. The 3rd secret of Fatima said something to the effect, all would be seen in 'a mirror' image. I wonder if the three day period of 'awakening' is actually going to be another dimension suddenly revealed to us. Mind bending stuff for sure.

Would it simply depend on how long your nose is?

Perhaps the other dimensions we are incapable of knowing are reserved for the creators to hold the known dimensions in place.

Yes, that could be one idea.

It just baffles my mind to think of what could be there, and then not have any idea what or how to picture it.

Who or what could reside in another dimension?

It's very nice to speculate about what lies in other dimensions, but unfortunately string theory also states that the other dimensions are incredibly small, i.e. the order of a planck length. That's the reason we are not aware of them - simply because they're tiny.

Although it's entirely possible that something could exist in a tiny dimension, it's unlikely we could ever "jump" dimensions because there wouldn't be enough room.

It's also interesting to note that the only reason string theory calls for extra dimensions is because the strings themselves have to 'vibrate' in more than the 4 dimensions we are aware of. In no way does string theory imply there's anything actually existing in the other dimensions.

That shows a complete misunderstanding of dimensions, each other dimension has the exact same mass and energy as every other dimension, imagine universes stacked together. Dimensional travel is done through perspective in my mind, nobody controls the flow of travel if possible.

I agree. Just because our 3 dimensions are physical and we can move in x,y,z directions doesnt mean that every dimension are like that. They probably arent.

The size of the other dimensions probably doesnt matter either, much like you cant really tell how big a thought or feeling is, or how big 30 minutes is.

Its fun to try and figure it out though... I have a feeling that we will never understand it completely from this reality. Maybe after the death of our physical bodies we will.

I've never heard anything like this, care to give a source? Everything I've ever read says that the other dimensions are "hidden" from our view.

I always enjoyed the following link in helping to imagine higher dimensions. While I don't think it's absoltuely correct in describing the actual dimensions themselves, it's a good primer for the concept.

For those without Flash or with slow connections, the text version is beloe, Although I highly recommend the video.

There are only three dimensions of measurement. They are height, width, and depth. Time is the measurement of the previous three through using the previous three.

For example: a clock's hands turn. You are measuring movement, that which occurs through perceiving height, width, and depth.

Linear mathematical graphs give dimensions a nefarious definition.

Since we're on the topic of intergalactic/intersolar travel then math graphs must be thrown out and a new understanding had, a comprehension that is only attainable through imagination.

A single line on a graph representing "one dimension" is actually false. We can never create one dimensional objects, nor do they exist. The one line itself has length, width, and depth. To take away one dimension from any 3 dimensional object would cause it to cease existing. An object with no depth would also, by default, lose the attributes of length and width. To take away the mass/matter of one dimension is to take away the mass of the entire object.

11 dimension theory is another hypo-thesis. A deficient proposition put forward for consideration. It doesn't tenure veracity when it comes to existence, but it's a nice biblically linked fairy tale for any scientists scared to leave spirits, souls, and God.

The brain is a neural receptor in charge of all the Human senses. It is a neural correlate, or transmitter/receiver for feelings and emotions. The brain will, for example, release cortisol (a stress hormone) when the body or mind becomes stressed. It is also the body listening to the brain as much as it is the brain listening to the body. Oxytosin, a hormone released from orgasm has incredible effects on happiness and stress release on the other hand. So hormones mostly effect feelings, memories effect every day actions and reactions in most cases, and the feelings from those reactions and others effect hormone release. Meditation reduces stress hormone levels, of course because of a bout of relaxation.

If you want to figure things out, I'd suggest studying
It makes life more enjoyable to know what makes you tick and what doesn't, what is true and what isn't.

And for dimensions, read post above.

Peace.

Time is just our ability to perceive change, if nothing changes time stops, I really don't think of time as the 4th dimension, except that we create the past through memories, and create the perception that the future exist by thoughts of what will happen, only the present exist. Of coarse when I see the future or change my past this whole idea breaks down so who knows.

Although this may just be my take on it, I like to think of the other dimensions as 'perspective; as the 4th, and 'faith; as the 5th. How we perceive the world changes our world as we slide through the perception dimension, and what we believe will happen, or has happened, shifts us through the 5th dimension.

So the you I met yesterday, may not be the you I meet tomorrow as my perception of you changes, for you (as far as my mind knows) is really to me, what I think you are, and that will shift with perspective and belief.
