Is the zoom on your camera the 20x optical, 990x digital?

It's 20x optical and 800x digital.

"Internos" your right, that is the footage that I've taken. I had bought this video camera for it's zoom feature, not for its quality of resolution. I used to have a $4,000 High Definition camcorder, but it only had 12x optical and not much digital.
I think it might be my camcorder that's causing this unusual shapeshifting on a very distant object. Maybe someone will reply and say that they too have had a focusing problem situation such as this one.

Just doesn't seem like digital zoom will get a person much on an object that is basically a distant light. The optical zoom would seem to be a bit more beneficial though.

Either way there isn't much that can be done for something that far away. I got the impression that the object/light wasn't changing very much.

Was that in the direction of the airport or a completely different location?

A better response than attacking the camera would be to say, "Great that you had your camera with you at the time. Too bad it wasn't a 10,000,000X zoom and your tripod and laptop and editing equipment and degree in audio production so you could see the little people walking on the surface of the planet."

The claim was clearly a guess. Give him a break...

I do not get the impression that this was a planet or that it was shifting shapes but it appeared to moving left to right as if the flare was the result of the heat from atmosphereic friction, but on the other hand, it was not moving right? Several times you could see something slightly to the left. I suppose your guess is as good as mine.

Looks like Venus, but you can check time and position if you have that data to compare. Optical zoom is prefered, and digital zoom is nothing more than the chip digitally increasing the size without having enough pixel data to do so, and you can do digital zoom within a computer program. Optical is actually lens moving to increase the size. I know that digital zoom is helpful to get the object into the shot while filming. Best would be to just buy the best resolution camera, and get a Schmidt-Cassegrain for a huge amount of light grasping power. They sell camera adapters for most popular camera's. Getting a shot at a ufo or other, with a telescope paired with a decent camera with give you clear, descriptive image, although it might set you back $5,000. You could even get a relatively inexpensive spotting scope to pair with a camera. Both would give you great optical zoom, with good image quality. Imagine a 16" Schmidt-Cassegrain with a 1080p video cam. This is doable with products they sell right now, but I've never seen footage of a ufo with that level of equipment.

I'm sorry for the "one liner"

That is all.

Last night(10-11-07) at about 2:30am, I was minding my own business when I saw an extremely out of this world very bright yellowish light going on and off while traveling like a plane at a low altitude while heading slightly down and then it disappeared behind the trees in the distance. I was right next to the only airport in the city so I waited for this plane to land. I waited and waited and waited but still no plane in the area. I thought that was strange that the "plane's" light was acting weird and then it didn't land at the airport or fly out of the trees in the distance.

I've seen very strange light phenomena in that same area ounce in a while in that same exact area, but when it happens it only lasts from about 3 seconds to 12 seconds ounce in an entire night. As usual, I didn't have enough time to take out my super zoom Sony digital video camera.

This report right here is very similar to what I saw:

I'm in the Columbus, GA area.

Without more info, it does seem to be a mystery. At 2:30 the only really bright objects would be Mars and Sirius. As others have stated, zooming in so much is bound to cause video artifacts and distortions. Could it have be the ISS?
