I guess you know something is "mainstream" when it comes down to this.

I suppose I should have clued in when the Democrat Presidential Candidates had their little Youtube debates.

This shouldn't only concern Conservatives, but everyone. There is a growing trend to silence segments of the population through major media outlets. Look at current efforts in Congress (namely "the Fairness Doctrine" concerning Talk Radio). Its ridiculous. Nobody prevents Liberals from having their viewpoints aired (Air America, Al Franken, e.g.) except the audience. If your sponsors and audience isn't there........well, thats called "Capitalism".

This whole Hate Speech thing is ridiculous. By whose standards is something considered "Hate Speech"? An opposing viewpoint or ideology?

Who will be targeted next?

Well, if you want to fight this system, start flagging every video you see. Doesnt matter what it contains, just flag it and add one of the silly reasons. Flag 100 videos per day. Every one will have to be watched by a human being, which will take up all of their resources or create queues.

That will show them that their censor system wont work.

Its ridiculous to me to censor youtube when you have Fox News spewing out hate and government propaganda on the regular TV. How about stopping that first?

I dont need anyone to tell me what to watch, thank you very much.

I agree! Let the loonies loose! As Chomsky says "let have more opinions from Neptune". I think he said that. Im paraphrasing, albeit not that great...

I certainly wasn't trying to tell you what to watch. I just want to inform people that the most informed minds don't just see an "issue" from fewer viewpoints to get the full picture. I don't like opinions crammed down people's throats. If Fox News was on EVERY channel, you'd have fewer choices. The fact of the matter is, if you don't like whats on Fox News, then watch Katie Couric or (Insert favorite news-source here) on another channel.......because you STILL HAVE THAT CHOICE.

My intention to starting this thread was to help you understand that FREEDOM OF SPEECH is becoming an endangered species in the nation who champions it. Certain parties are labeling this attack on Freedom of Speech as something called HATE SPEECH.

Hate Speech, Hate Crimes, its all a sham. Speech is speech just as crime is crime.

This nation has never championed freedom of speech. Theres only freedom of speech until someone responds back, then its an outrage.

I don't get him implying he meant you. I think like everyone he's referring to the freaking censors who think we should be all watching the same propaganda crap.

Mehhh.Sheep?? I don't think so.

Just watching the UK election build up dross. Now they'e making it blantantly obvious all parties are the same by proposing the same policies.

Just waiting and watching for the 'small print' policy to be forwarded for this sentence.. sorry.. term of office.

Your signature is your reply. Its in the Constitution. Just because we've come so far away from it doesn't mean its not there. I think this is part of the problem.

Yes. We are getting far removed from it. The fact that Congress spent time condemning moveon.org and Rush in almost the same week make me think...we are paying you cluckas to cluck about this stuff?

You definitely see the problem!

We are becoming limited by choice on who we can vote for that will realistically reach office. And you are right; both parties Republican and Democrat despite their different views on issues like abortion, taxation, and economical models, are just as corrupt, manipulative, and power-hungry as each other. Free Speech is certainly attacked by both. Its us "sheeple" who are being corraled.

Can't help but notice the all the "right" stuff today. Troll-a-rama. Crowd sourcing has gone political... No indication at all of why the YT ban occured? The "article" does nothing to illucidate. Perhaps a statement along the lines of Ms. Coulter's "Jews need perfecting" statement? She needs help that one and I don't mean web-chaff of this poor quality... Bellevue, maybe a rehab like good old "honest" Rush.

Or the guy with the recycled Limbaugh lie that "Green foam brought down STS-107". Tried to tell "me" about External Tank Foam. Come back with data little spin-bot. Sad little people. I like American's, Democrat and Republican - your politics are most entertaining.

I don't know whether any of the extreme-stuff from anywhere can be taken seriously outside your country, I feel sorry for America in many ways... used to be worth visiting. Glad I don't live there.

Have a pleasant day CreeWolf,

Vic

You've got a great point. Its not like we got the power any more to say "your fired" or at least administer a hefty pay cut on them. The time they spend sanctioning each other, launching investigations on the "people", INSTEAD of doing their job representing their people is a waste and NOT what we are paying for.

Last time I checked I was.
Well part German/Dutch/Irish and Scottish too.
Anything else you would like me to clarify?
Do you have a question or a point in reference to the post I made?

It's just hard to perceive your intention when you implement one line posts and I would hate to digress from your line of thought or clarification that you require.

Luv the Avvy BTW

(Edit) BTW Mods.. Sorry for quoting the whole post.. but.. er.. well you know

You refer to a different viewpoint as a "Troll-a-rama"? Ann Coulter would seem to be correct (glad I didn't say "Right") when she says liberals resort to insults in lieu of an intelligent argument.

I didn't intend it to be "taken seriously" outside of my country. I certainly welcome your input and am glad that wherever you're from you still have the freedom to give it. Don't feel sorry for Americans, we're fine. Still got one heck of a country with lots of diversity (and nukes). I'm kind of glad you don't live here too.

You have a good day too sir!

I do take this seriously though,as it has implications for the rest of the world.
As long as the U.S is going throught the charade of pretending everyone has free speech then there is still a glimmering chance.
When any form of speech is shut down then you know the doodoo is gonna hit the big spinning thing

We've got so many ridiculous bylaws over here it's almost impossible to find a place in the 'wild' where you can practise survival techniques.
No hunting/fishing/open fires etc.
America is a BIG place to fill with cctv and patrols but it's the next step when they start cuttting the bill of rights.
Don't forget, with every stoopid law passed, they are going to have to find the means to enforce it.

SO WHAT!! if some loon is spouting garbage that most people find ridiculous.
It's easier to just stop listening to something you don't want to hear, than it is to try and revoke a law that stops you hearing it in the first place.

You will see the entire can opened up! America is America because of free speech.Once that is Gone freedom leaves the EArth and into Lucifers mouth we go. I will be sending youtube a little "hate speech" in a email protesting this garbage.

Having never heard of this woman nor seen any of the videos she posted on YouTube (and presumably unable to do so now) what, exactly was the content of these videos?

Not true. Inciting others to hate (like Hitler or the KKK did) or to violence is real.

Besides that do you have any clue as to what this blogger was saying that got it labeled as hate speech?

Perhaps it was.

And what exactly is your criteria for hate speech? Can you tell us all ahead of time specifically what constitutes hate speech?

I agree with the previous poster that the entire hate speech concept is a total sham.

The reason it's a sham is because it's always one sided. You don't see any liberal crying about the outrageous statements of Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, or any of the countless mullahs in mosques here in the U.S. calling for the destruction of America.

And what about Kent State professor Julio Pino's anti-American jihadist website? Why were are the liberals either silent, or defending Pino's right to free speech when it was discovered that he was calling for a jihad against America, all funded with tax-dollars from Kent St.?

Maybe the liberals would be taken seriously, or have some credibility, if they actually acted like the stood for some principle rather than twisting every issue in a self-serving political way.

When a kid wants to reference God in a graduation speech we can't have that because it's a violation of the 1st Amendment, but when a Muslim professor calls for the destruction of America we must grant him his first Amendment rights?

Give me a break. Even Ray Charles could see through what's behind the whole "hate speech" issue.
