It's amusing indeed how your "government" spends billions for space exploration, instead of trying to find the cure for aids or cancer.

I'm also pretty sure that my fellow ATS posters will be glad if extraterrestrial bacteria is found on mars. It will give them hope that the abduction lies they have been believing their whole life might still have some truth in them.

Its doubtful that extraterrestrial bacteria is responsible for abductions.

Greys and Reptilians are another matter entirely.

But I do wonder about the Government - they spend so much on war and destruction that it sickens me. I'd much rather the money be spent on space exploration than in making new weapons, but my first priority would be in healing the rifts that have opened up between countries, and finding cures for the very diseases you mentioned.

Everyone on the board has the same government except for you?

Complain to our "government", not us. We aren't in control of their spending practices.

Thank you for sharing, whatever that meant.

Mr. Kano,

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Smith. I joined this board just today and am getting familiar with the discussions.

My government is not your government, I can assure you of that.

Thank you.

Which of our government spends billions on space exploration?

Your government spends a very big amount of money on space exploration. Money that can be used for medicine purposes, not that I care about anybody or their health, but I'm just stating what could be a better use.

You do realize that our government, if you are talking about the U.S. government, can print its own money, right? Being the world economic leader and the standard for world trade currency, the U.S. can pretty much print as much cash as it needs to fund such adventures without actually taking away from other causes. Or we can just make more debt. It really doesn't matter. The U.S. has to survive to keep the world economy going and so we can create as much funny money and debt as we need to facilitate our desires.

Its more likely that cures already exist for cancer and AIDS, but are left uncured to allow for the higher cost of treatment that comes with such illnesses. Health care is a business, not a charity. There is no money in cures.

Every government wastes money in one way or another. Some leaders build themselves palaces, some sponsor terrorists, or spread it among their closest associates. How dare we expand our knowledge of science and explore our universe which may hold the key to our own existance and relevance.
As much as I have my objections to spending our budget on such lofty pursuits, it could be worse.
I personally would like to see our budget balanced, our schools improved and bridges rebuilt with other countries.

Oh please.

You can twist and turn it however you want. Medicine and health care should be more important than figuring out if there's bacteria on mars, not that I care about anybody's life personally.

What is YOUR government?
(I'm guessing Communist by your Avatar, but that might just be the picture you wanted and have nothing to do with anything, so I thought I'd ask.)

As far as our Government not spending it's funds correctly by using it on space exploration, I really don't see the link that shows valid reasons for blame or concern. The millions to billions spent on space is nothing compared to the Trillions of dollars being used in Black Ops or simply Lost!

Yes, I've caught on that you don't care about anyone but yourself. That's the sign of an ignorant man.
Space exploration should be a goal in our future, but things like health care do need attention first. However, NASA does provide jobs and with how far we've come I can't imagine any sense in just illiminating any plans for future journeys to space.
You can critisize Bush all you want, most sane people here in the US think he's a crackpot and needs to go....but tell me Smith, what's YOUR "government" or dictatorship, or totalitarianistic society done for you lately???????

No, I don't consider myself ignorant, I just don't care about the health and well-being of anybody but myself, so could you define ignorance for me? For your information, I don't mind watching people in pain and actually find it amusing, but this has nothing to do with ignorance, I'm not ignorant. Look it up.

What benefits have human beings received by spending so much money for these "mars missions" ?

He's a piece of scum. He should be impeached.

I don't have a government, dictatorship, or totalitarianistic society, so I can't say they've done anything for me or have taken anything for me. Regarding my views, I am a Communist who believes that communism would be the perfect way a society should live in, and will try anything to turn the United States into a communist society, if I ever get the chance.

I am currently residing in the U.S because of certain associates, but I should have clarified myself in the beginning - I meant the United States government. My mistake in not considering that not everybody on this forum is from america.

Knowledge is what you gain when you learn something.

Ignorance is what you have before learning the truth.

Stupidity is the space in between.

You know Smith, I think communism looks good on paper. But you gotta agree its shown little progress in reality. Truly intelligent people stand up for what they believe in a non-violent way. The problem with you is that you look at Americans as a bunch of GWB's marching around. We're supposed to stay out of every other country's business, but everyone else wants a say in how our country is run. This is not a totally free country as many of our simple folk want to believe. It is run by the few rich & powerful elite. They trance around with no regard for the future and safety of this country. Everyone hates Americans, when you should hate politicians...in general.
I would compare America to that girl in High School...the head cheerleader, prancing around insulting and disregarding the feelings of others around her...showing off her new car, quarterback boyfriend and new plastic tits! Obnoxious, I know, but still human.
And Smith, that whole pain thing...scary, you need therapy. To be human is to be fragile. You are one sick puppy....and I'm not going to argue the whole "space" thing anymore because that's not even what's bothering you. I heard some figures about this Mars Rover thing only costing like $5 per US citizen. I'm ok with that, and you should be too...I'll spare that out of pocket, so it doesn't come out of the budget...do you feel better now?
