What is the deal with all of the "Buy Israeli Goods" signatures and such around ATS?

Whatever happened to buying American made goods?

I think it's pretty safe to say, unless you are already RICH, that the American economy is in the toilet. This being what it is, why would ANY American promote the purchase of Israeli goods?

Are all of these people Zionists or what? What good could come out of feeding MORE of our American dollars (which are basically valueless at this point in part because of practices like giving our money to other countries instead of spending it here) into the Israeli economy?

America has already become Israel's personal attack dog and I'm sure we give them more than their fair share of money as it is. Why on Earth should we spend MORE of our money on them by buying their goods?

Personally, I think it would be a much better idea to buy those same goods from an American vendor. But hey, that's just me.

Perhaps there is something to this whole BLIND support of Israel. If there is, please feel free to inform me as I believe I missed the memo.

By the way, are Israelis going out of their way to help our economy? What exactly is it that they do for us?? I think I missed that memo as well.

As a matter of fact, is there ANY reason that we, as Americans should be providing so much support to Israel? If so, why shouldn't we be providing the same support to say Iran or Syria? What is the reason for all the die hard support for Israel? I just don't get it. I'm honestly not trying to be sarcastic here, I seriously do not understand it. I see absolutely no benefit for us having ANY involvement with Israel and NO, it has nothing to do with it being a Jewish state. I also see no reason for us to play big brother to China, North Korea, Russia, France or anyone else.

Am I wrong in thinking that America needs to watch out for America's interests first and foremost?

Why is it that so many in power within the United States seem to be so vested in the interests of other countries? Are we all being sold out? I think it's something that needs to be looked into.

The current government (and past ones) don't seem to have the best interests of the American people in mind and it seems that this PROBLEM is spreading to a good deal of the American people as well.

What's going on here?

Please don't waste your time screaming anti-semite here. While I am VERY anti-zionist, I have absolutely no problem with the everyday Jewish peoples.

However, Zionists (Jewish and Christian) are no better (and possibly WORSE) than those "radical Islamic fundamentalists" everyone so fondly refers to as terrorists. As a matter of fact, they are pretty much the EXACT SAME THING that just happen to look in different directions.

I believe it was in response to the "Boycott Israeli Goods" signature people had after the invasion of Lebanon 2006. I guess some people just forgot to change it after that. Maybe.

Ah, possibly. I wasn't around then and wasn't aware of that haha.

Though, either way, I find it quite wrong and odd.

Well, one explanation could be that not all ATS members are from the U.S. I have seen at least one member who was from Israel (don't recall the member name). I, myself, am from the US and do my best to buy "American Made" products, but isn't always easy when our market is flooded with Chinese goods.

Most of the people who I have seen with them list location as the United States.

Thanks for responding.

The Chinese won't budge on the wan (sp)?, after decades of negotiation.
The dollar is in free fall. American goods will be more desirable. More jobs, more good things for Corporate. Win, Win, win, sigh.
Thank goodness for that kindly 'Federal Reserve' to pump 60 billion into the market when things looked about to crash. When it hits, it gonna hit big. Mark my words.

Just had a thought. This is almost blackmailing monetary disunion. What with Buffet putting all his stuff in Euros. I hope the Amero will kick Euro butt LOL. A one world money is probably 20 yrs off after some major squirmish and we have to pass our palms in front of the 'reader' for a loaf of bread. Shoot me first ok, please.

I think a one world currency would be very delicate. Seems to me that it would need something else to balance and calibrate it. Maybe that's not true, I'm not an Economics major by any means.

They are incredibly lame, no one is going to do that just because they saw it on a sig.

Its pretty desperate and pathetic, especially as I bet nearly all of these people are jews, not israeli.

Israeli goods have generally been built using torture and slavery of palestinian - DON'T BUY THEM - that is, if you can identify them. Zionist anti-boycott laws in the USA usually make it difficult - the origin of israeli goods is often muffled so you can't know when you buy israeli , what a disgusting idea.

I hate to say this but...

I have to look out for ME. That being said, I buy the least exepensive items that I can find. I have to, I work hard for my money and like a lot of other people have debt, so I have to save whenever I can.

I would love to only buy American Made goods, but I can't always do that.

I don't recall ATS ever questioning the religious backgrounds of our members and I'll thank you not to do it either.

"I bet they're Jews" is a pretty ignorant thing to say.

Consumers have the right to purchase whatever they want. As elevatedone said, sometimes it's purely based on price, sometimes on other things. There is no eeeeeeeeeeevil JOO law that says "Thou must purchase thy goods from Israel".

Frankly, I don't really recall seeing much of anything at all that was made there. Taiwan, China and Malaysia are what I see on most labels.

That being said, people have the right to buy what they want and here on ATS they have the right to express that. If someone feels they're making a difference by asking people to either "boycott" or "support" a nation, more power to them.

You will not use that as a venue to question people's backgrounds or religious beliefs. I hope that's clear.

Actually, in the signatures of some of our members it explains quite clearly how to identify goods made in Israel.

Which Zionist laws in America would you be talking about?

Also what slave labor was used to make the aforementioned Israeli goods if as we're constantly reminded the wall between the two lands doesn't permit the Palestinian people to commute to their jobs?

Frankly, i am happy such people exist because they help others to grasp opportunities to defend humankind from such monstrosities like Israel. I don't prejudice to any religion in saying that since jews are free of identifying themselves with the zionist regime or not. The idea of all jews in the world as culiminating in the nation of "israel" is an extremely conservative, backwards idea hundreds of years old and has already been severely misused by Hitler and the likes. Hence no prejudice to jews when being anti-israel, you could stop that line of argument.

No its the truth. The ignorant thing is for people who have sigs to tell you to buy stuff from Israel because its made by people of the same religion as them.

Where the hell did you get that idea from. I dont give two craps about peoples religion as I think all religions are equally stupid.

Id say the same thing if someone had buy Islamic goods, buy sikh or buy catholic goods but people cant wait to be offended when jews are involved.

Yes... I know... I was just waiting for someone to ramble about Jews so I could complain about it.

You've figured me out. How... momentous.

I don't even think I've ever seen anything that was made in Israel. I think the only thing the Israelis make is everyone else mad at them!

I think maybe you are ignorant as to the meaning of the word ignorant.

Also, what is wrong with a group taking care of its own? No one who hates Israel is going to see the sig. and change their minds. The "buy Israeli" sigs are preaching to the choir. Should we expect Arabs (in general) to go out of their way to buy Israeli goods? Not going to happen. How about Israelis buying as many Arab goods as they can get their hands on? Not going to happen.

They have to appeal to like minded individuals to remember who they are supporting when they go to the market. Its a good thing; no one else is gonna help.

That doesn’t give you a blank check to attack any one religion. That’s like a person telling black jokes defending himself by saying "hey, it isn’t just blacks, I think all non-whites are lame."

So you are an equal-opportunity elitist hater. That makes you any better than anyone you complain about? Think not.

Left that in there to reinforce my last statement. You hate them all; how nice.

You definitely have to watch what you say about "jews" because not only do they garner a religious respect, they're also their own race. That's why I believe there is so much controversy because you're kind of killing two birds with one stone and it's easy for people to call you a racist or a religious intolerant. Best marketing scheme in history if you ask me.
