Apparently Bush is at it again. There is heavy support in the house to pass a resolution to recognize the genocide of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire during WWI. Premier Bush is concerned that it will hurt US-Turk relations. Here is my concern. I feel that its unbelievable that he would ignore an event of this magnitude to support his agenda. Further, what else does our government choose to ignore to support there interests. The reason that Bush doesn't want the resolution passed is because according to reports, 70% of all air cargo and 30% of fuel for the troops in Iraq go through Turkey. Hmm, doesn't some Iranian president ignore the facts regarding the holocaust in support of his agenda? This is just another example of U.S. hypocrisy when it comes to foreign policy. Here is a link to the CNN article.

I guess this my not neccesarily be a conspiracy because it's public information. Just like the atrocities in Darfur are public info. Apparently there aren't enough Areminians in positions of power in the U.S. to make this issue important. I hope this resolution passes, if so, then a major regional ally may not support our operations in Iraq and we may be a little closer to a pullout and it might postpone the Iran agenda. Any thoughts??

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Top Bush administration officials are shifting into damage-control mode after a House committee narrowly approved a resolution that labels the killings of Armenians in Turkey during World War I as "genocide."

Turkish officials had warned approval of the resolution could jeopardize U.S. relations with their country, a NATO member that has been a key U.S. ally in the Middle East and a conduit for sending supplies into Iraq.

Now that this has occurred, lets see what happens, this could be big. Turkey has said they would be extremely dissatisfied with the U.S. and have hinted they will stop supporting the U.S. THis seems like a back door way for the Dems to hurt Premier Bush's war agenda.
