Pulled over by an F-16

www.cnn.com

EMMITSBURG, Maryland (AP) -- The skies were empty at a charity air show after participants were escorted out of the area by F-16 fighter jets sent up because President Bush was in town...
...Several pilots headed to the benefit for the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum apparently were unaware of the security measure in part because their antique planes carried no radios.

Apparently US air defenses have improved since 9/11.

Whereas in 2001 they couldn't even track, let alone intercept, four off-course passenger jets, now six years later, they were able to intercept four antique propeller planes and force them to land.

The flying antiques had no radios, and the fighters were forced to circle the tiny planes in order to stay aloft, and escort them to a landing.

We should feel so much safer today, knowing the US skies are safe from potentially nefarious, flying antiques.

No, Funny is your local Sheriff chopper taking off at the same time the president is taking off thirty miles to the south right in the flight path without calling ahead. Two F-15s about blew out the windows around here and I bet the pilot of the sheriffs chopper had to clean out his britches.

So, because the air defenses were deficient on 9/11, they should for all time be deficient.

Pilots have responsibilities. That's why they are licensed.

It's unfortunate, but security is security.

There's nothing here to laugh at, much less be outraged over.
