Iran Could Strike U.S. by 2015, U.S. Officials Say

www.foxnews.com

WASHINGTON — Iranian technology is on pace to build a long-range missile that could strike the United States within a decade, a high-level Pentagon official told FOX News.

But a successful test of a missile defense program completed last week is giving military leaders more confidence that an airborne attack from Iran can be thwarted — if the United States is able to convince Europe to go along with the plans to build an anti-missile system there against strong Russian opposition.

Wonder by any chance if 2015 won't wind up being 2012. Either way this isn't good.

Whats the problem here?

Simply because they can, doesnt necessarily mean they will.

And I mean who can blame them for wanting Nukes? with the US and UK on their doorstep threatening their way of life and religion.

Bah, what did they find? mode myterious rods from Sudan? Or WMD's etc. The credibility gap of the administration is staggering.

At anyrate if tru all the more reason to expand the ABM system already in place

So a nuclear ballistic missile is possible within the decade. And subsequently, if fired, Iran ceases to exist.

Maybe we should be arguing about the average IQ of your typical Iranian instead.

Do propagandized stories like this actually work on people? Maybe we should really be arguing about the IQ of the average sheeple.

Peace

A lot of unscheduled events could happen between now and 2015 that could change the whole situation.

Here are some of the possibilities:

a)Iran could disable its nuclear program
Due to:
-Sanctions
-Treaties
-Threats

b)We could bomb the heck out of them
Due to:
-Terrorist attacks
-No compliance
-National security

c)The people revolt for a new government
Due to:
-Infiltration
-Our political influence
-Economy collapse

d)End of the world
Due to:
-Nuclear War
-Asteroids
-Anything that threatens our species

We have to look at these possible scenarios between now and 2015 that could easily influence the situation beneficially or negatively.

From the looks of this thread, you guys havent learned how it goes yet.

"US officials" spread a rumour to Fox News about Iran, something they can put on the news. Its not designed to be a real threat, its designed to add to the collective idea that Iran is a dangerous country in the public mind. They will keep adding to it.

Sorry if I sound like a smart ass, but this has been done for many years now, and the fact that this is seriously discussed is just because they are succeeding in creating that image in you all.

It makes me sad. I mean, this is a very clear example of spreading the fear to influence public opinion. Its doesnt get any clearer than this. And some people sit there and get worried.

I want to scream "Why do you trust US Officials", "Why do you trust your lying government" but I know I cant make a difference.

Iran could strike the US by 2015, huh?

Well, Breaking News: The US is capable of striking Iran right now

But that doesn't matter, because we're the good guys. Go America!!

I can't stand the hypocrisy of this country. We cower in fear of countries like Iran being able to maybe someday being able to hit us, and predicting what year that may be, and we wave our flags and chant those oh so original anti-Islamic and anti-Arabic phrases and insults, and say we need to attack now, but it doesn't even cross the minds of Americans that we're capable of hitting them right now.

Most Americans can't even comprehend the "what if" of the situation. What if we were Iran and they were us, and they could hit us now, what we would do? Clearly we feel it's important to prepare now for them being able to hit us in 2015, but then we expose ourselves for the hypocrites we are when we turn right around and say that because they're building up their arms, and preparing themselves now because we're able to hit them, then they're terrorists.

Does anyone not see something wrong with this?

We're preparing for them 8 years down the road for our national defense, and we're the good guys. We're the ones concerned about our safety and security.

They're preparing for us now for their national defense, and they're terrorists.

What sense does that make?

Just amazing.

Watching/Reading Fox News is bad for you.

Please take a moment to reflect on the source and propagandist nature of this story.

So like since when is faux news a credible source of anything?

Besides all that... what the hell would Iran gain from doing that? Absolutely nothing.

NEWS FLASH :
Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Columbia, Venezuela, Russia, Jamaica, Cuba, Japan, Greenland, Iceland, United Kingdom, and many other countries can STRIKE YOU RIGHT NOW.

Either start bombing every country on earth right now, or get over the fact that they have no intention of bombing you...

Just because the US thinks of war before any other solution, doesn't mean the rest of the world does too.

Are people really stupid enough to fall for this one again? A few oblique 'officials' say that they are a threat, the next thing we have another war and then we have another President saying "don't blame me, the intelligence was a 'slam dunk' - Oh well, it is too late now".

When war was looming with Iraq, many people were saying "Iran will be next". I wonder who is after Iran? Once the US has control of Iraqi and Iranian oil, maybe then they can afford to go to war with Saudi Arabia?

You will wake up one day and hear Fox news telling you that Saudi Arabia and its people are sponsors of terror and in fact, we now blame them for the 9/11 attacks as "we have just learned" that the Saudis have been funding AQ and OBL since the 80's.

You couldn't make this stuff up...

Well thats it, im convinced.
We need to outlaw them immediately, and commence bombing.
How dare these evil, evil iranians build a bomb that could strik the CONTUS
let alone do it as soon as 15yrs...
Thats just OUTRAGEOUS!

We cant waste 1 single day, we need to act NOW!

Who cares Israel has nukes, and can strike relativley anywhere.
Who cares China will be the superpower in 15yrs...
For the sake of our corporate structure and thirst for Oil, I can easily see this as jsutification for more murder and bloodshed.

Any traitors out there whom believe we shouldnt bomb Iran, well your just plain traitors.
Americans, love to fight... regardless of the children you murder, or the families you devestate...

So come on all you big strong men, Uncle sam's out to dupe you again.
Got him self in a terrible jam, way out yonder in saddams land
so put down your books and pick up a gun, we're gunna have a whole lot of fun..
and its

What are we fighting for..
dont ask me I dont give a dam..
next stop is EEEERAN

and its

This whole thing is very typical Fox fear mongering BS.

It's a ridiculous story without any merit what-so-ever, and yet for some reason people swallow this crap without even thinking. The fear generated colors peoples thinking and allows the administration to get away with crimes under international law and against humanity.

Fox needs to go.
Laws should be enacted making New media accountable for their reporting. Restoring the fifth estate is one of the most important things that could be done to properly liberate the Western People.

Once again, Fox is BAD FOR YOU.

I didn't read it all, but this first quote just takes the cake

...a high-level Pentagon official told FOX News...

that kinda says it all doesn't it? And soon every hillbilly fanatic patriot American will believe that and agree with a notion to illegally occupie another middleeastern country. I guess you could say that even among political bodies two negatives equals a positive... Pentagon and Fox.

Don't Americans think it's time to start getting the news from some other networks than a highly biased one like Fox? I mean networks who actually still interest themselves in bringing the objective truth rather than a truth that serves a political objective?

During my stay in Britain Im still to meet a person who sypathises with anything the Americans are up to... Same thing in Denmark.
