An asteroid discovered three years ago could be a threat in 2029 when it crosses Earth's orbit. Boris Shustov, director of the Institute of Astronomy, said at a forum that the Apophis asteroid could have a bigger impact than the Tunguska event.

So if 2012 disappoints, we always have 2029 to look forward to!

The current apophis chance of hitting earth is pretty low. Still it has the best Palermo scale.

The impact risks are shown for a lot of NEO's.

I think a lot of people will make the press saying that NEO's have a "good" chance of hitting the earth. The probability that we will be hit by something we don't even know about yet is higher than being hit by something we do know about. The guys make the same claim that we'll be hit is "good" is as misleading as saying if you buy 100 tickets to the PowerBall lottery, you have a much better chance of winning. They should make such claims iff (if and only if) they know for sure that something will happen and that's not the case.
