Laws which make large numbers of people crminals are illegal.

ok I had to do research to support the idea. Laws that are not enforced are used to attack political enemies of power. This is why power is willing to make laws then not uniformly apply them

I agree with what you are saying in theory. I have watched the news over the last 2 or 3 years and the Federal Govt spent one day in Ky rounding up 1200 people. (that's what was reported) I know the people they went after for the most part were bad people so to speak, but I am against the Gov't arresting that many people in one 24 hr period no matter what the reason . Just my opinion.

Well that is how laws are changed. As the majority vote to change them they get changed. For pot it is obvious that the majority is not really to make it legal. As for underage drinking I would say since the majority has established age limits such as 18 as a legal adult those under that age fall into a group that doesn’t know what is best for them since they are not an adult yet. (Try not to add logic to this) In this case laws are set to protect them even if it reduces their freedom of choice for we do not want them to choose poorly until they are legal age. In Texas a person under the age of 21 can drink if the alcohol was given to them by their parent. Now for drinking and driving anything like that where you endanger others should be outlawed.

One day, they arrested 1200 people? Do you have a link to this story?

Im curious as to why you feel this way: You are against the police arresting xx amount of criminals in a 24hr period no matter what they did? That is really odd to me.

What is an acceptable amount to you? And what crimes should they ignore and which ones should be the ones arrested?

The problem is not a disagreement with criminals being arrested. The issue is "is it there criminal history" or some other agenda that gets them arrested.

lets say there are 10,000 white color criminals ripping off investors or doing fraudulent loans or whatever, they give to the corporate party.

Then there are 10,000 student protesters, inner city people dissatisfied with the system, and Internet people questioning media.

What happens when the round ups find any law, not having ID, accused hate speech, or more likely minor drinking or narcotics violations to arrest only the second set. They lose future economic power, possibly the right to vote and bear arms, and are possibly incarcerated in a humiliating and dangerous environment.

Targeted justice is injustice.

A simple example, we don't enforce immigration laws unless an illegal becomes a "problem" to somebody, non equal enforcement leads to oppression.

Laws are made for reasons. Almost all drugs used to be perfectly legal. Coca Cola even had coc aine in it. But what happened was addictions and lives being ruined and it impacted very negatively on society, they became like a cancer, so they were outlawed.

Drinking age is another good law. Teens get into enough car accidents and act like idiots with little common sense to begin with. They aren't old enough to be able to drink responsibly.

Gambling is legal in some states, not others. You'd have to take that up on the state level. However, people gambling privately and losing money to others and not paying up leads to crime, and I'm sure the police didn't want to have to step in and become people's debt collectors, not to mention that when money changes hands the govt wants taxes. So it's illegal for the most part unless it's controlled like in Las Vegas.

The seatbelt law somebody mentioned, has to do with keeping fewer people injured and killed, reducing a burden on our health care system and having to make big insurance payouts.

Its the way the laws is being writen, what do we call a drug abuser, someone who smokes to much drugs: pot, crack, Etc. Or some someone over does it on prescription medication, and also its enforcement Lately Its see something, say something, Our prisons next might be 6% fuller next, Drugs and murder? Some people live in a fish Bowl, every body wants to peek in if you let them, and then they call 911 for their 15 minutes. If they Thing you broke law.
