Cannon wing to be 27th SOW

8/29/2007 - HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- Officials announced today that the new Air Force Special Operations Command wing at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., will be designated the 27th Special Operations Wing.

The 27th designation, currently used as the 27th Fighter Wing at Cannon AFB, will change from fighter to special operations when the wing changes mission October 1. The 27th SOW will join its sister wing, the 1st Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

In New Mexico we have some of the most secretive bases in the nation. The Toulorosa Basin, where I live, hosts, Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands Missle Range, The White Sands Test Track, Sandia National Laboratories, and several "hidden" areas that are surrounded by fencing and if you look real close there are camaras, mirrors, lasers and god knows what else gaurding these areas. This makes me think New Mexico is going to be a hot spot when the move to a police state is finally made.
