Worry, about protest numbers today, and a plead to let all know to protest due to the UN envoy visit.

Police are everywhere in Yangon (Rangoon). They are arresting demonstrators on the streets, searching houses and arresting innocent people. They don't want the UN envoy to see the truth of the demonstrations in Burma. The foreign media is not getting the number of deaths right, I am sure that there are many more killed than the BBC is reporting. Shan, Rangoon

I believe China is holding up the UN Security Concil from doing anything.

I am an US Citizen living inside the States, I think this could be a way to show our support for the struggle of the Burma people, and the courage of the Monks.

This is just an idea, I don't know how this would be done, I guess people could at least boycott chinese goods, and write their embassy. Protest outside their embassy would begin with one person.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea please add any ideas or information to continue with this.

Please do what you can to let your local media receive these images, it is these pictures that are helping to prompt so much outrage and condemnation of the attacks. They make it more difficult for people to ignore what is currently happening.

Admin: Heard that last night, at sanchaung lann, the army went into monastery there to arrest the monks. When the people in the area tried to prevent them from entering the monastery, the soldiers threatened that they wld shoot at the people.

They aren't going to succeed I am afraid. It is been for more than a few days now, and none is helping them. With everyday more of them are being put in jail, threatened and abused with violence or even killed. Their spirit will crack down soon, especially when they realize there is no help on its way...
A shame really, because it will again take some time before they are ready to overthrow the regime. Meaning the world has to wait again before they possibly can help out. I feel sorry for them .

The faked protests referred to are apparently being put in place by the Junta. There have been reports in the chat box that they have been going door to door and coercing people into saying that they support the junta.
Many in the chat boxes feel that this is being done for the benefit of the UN delegates and that these people will be set up as a protest against the call for democracy.

Over 2000 demonstrators have gathered at Shwebonthar Street, near jewelry market. Soldiers have not started shooting. Soldiers have surrounded the demonstrators, and started arresting little by little. About 1000 are protesting... and over 1000 are bystanders.

Niknayman: Soldiers are blocking on all 4 sides of Sule Pagoda, the heart official centre of Yangon. Demonstrators have began protesting.

koyinaaw: Helicopters are flying over Mandalay continuously. They are flying very slow over streets, probably to scare demonstrators on the streets. All schools are closed, although they are supposed to be open on Saturday today. Teachers are under informally detained and guarded by soldiers.

Mizzima: About 500 men soldiers from Army Division-66, riot police, and policemen have positioned at Sule Pagoda. About 20 Toyota Dyna cars (without number plates) are in stand-by position to arrest people and to take away. Police with red scarfs are there at every 100 yards. An eye witness said, they seemed to be calm today.
There are about 20 soliers and police guarding Shwe Dagon east gate. The main roads, such as Kyaikasan Road, connecting with South Okkalarpa and Thingangyun, the heavily attacked areas are all closed.

Mizzima: 11 military trucks have been patrolling all over Mogok. Informers reported us that it is not from the same division of troops, which were there yesterday. Monks and people started at Mogok Phaungdaw Oo Monastery, saying Metta Sutta prayers and praying these:

to fulfill peoples' desire
They almost had a face to face confrontation in front of Aung Chanthar Monastery, but demonstrators have chosen another way, and broke up to go home.

Niknayman: A Singaporean was also brutally beaten and shot yesterday. Hospitalized and Singaporean Embassy officials went to see him at hospital.

Belgian newspaper (in Flemish www.hln.be... ) reports that internet connections are shut down again.

Where is Gambari? Where is he going? how junta is palnning to trick on UN?

Gambari will arrive YGN 3:30 pm local time with silk air today. and the Junta is planning to take him to NAYPYITAW (which is new capital) , there is not much civilian in this town.

So, what is the reason for Gambri to go to Myanmar?.... showing him a place where no people live and junta try to block his eyes, and they will lie to him as usual, finally he might come back with answer ... well .. SPDC is going toward to Democracy.... then finish... people are at YGN and blood or on the street of YGN.

One army is now near Airport asking people ID card and also blocking the road to prevent protest crowd not to come near Airport.

Is there any other Internet access inside Myanmar apart from the government owned ISP ? I'm curious about this as info seems to be getting on to that blog some way or another...

Are they phoning the info overseas or is there alternative internet access within Myanmar other than the goverment ISP ?
