When I think of the current military soldiers and the elite soldiers I can't help wondering when they will not be enough. When will we have "super soldiers"? Soldiers trained at birth. Do you think such a thing would ever happen, if not already has?

I think it is an interesting subject, I came up with it when I was playing Halo.

it was a couple thousand years ago and they were called the spartans

YEah, they probably allready do, to an extent. Not our government, but didn't the Hitler Youth do that to an extent?

Here is a link,

www.businessweek.com...

it really talks more about the technology they will wear, but it is still really interesting. I'll keep looking for more info.

it was a couple thousand years ago and they were called the spartans

And it was very successful for Sparta, but they found they couldn't make it work for all of Greece and there system collapsed.

Why from birth? Why not just build them after you recruit them?

With the state of biochemical/pharmaceutical technology you can "feed" a group of soldiers into super status.

Think about it. We put steroids and growth hormones in cattle feed, why not in the ham and eggs on the chow line? You're already training them, why not physique enhancing, mental, and mind enhancing drugs also.

HOw'd that go on that old American Sci-fi show, "We have the technology, we can rebuild him...."

We do, so why not? Rather, why haven't they....

yes it is possible.
when human cloning becomes legal.
We could build the largest disposable army by cloning one person
with all the right genetic makeup.

Looks like I'm too late hrxll:
www.cndyorks.gn.apc.org...

The only reason I said from birth was because it is the stereotypical fiction story to train soldiers from birth.

The reason for training from birth is simple, it allows for more control. The older you are the less impressionable you are and not quite as open to suggestion. After a certain age alot of your beliefs are mostly set in concrete, but starting from birth the soldeirs would cling to the services because was their parent, and they dont know anything else. With such a strong bond it would be quite dangerous to oppose the military, because any soldiers raised by them will obey them to the death. As for all the technology that would go into such an 'Uber Soldat' program, its rather scary. With a standing army of these creatures, peace could never exist, because something trained to kill will find it hard to sit around twiddling its thumbs waiting for the next call to battle.

Someone who starts learning about weapons, everything inthe army fromt he age of 2, will be much more enhanced than someone who just started learning at the age of 16;.

read up on the Clans from Mechwarrior, that's a pretty good example of SF warrior culture.

As for historical examples, The spartans actually had a nice run. The Romans did it to an extent, as did the Japanese. All were first-tier world powers for extended periods.

they are working or powered body armor that make soldiers much stronger and able to jump higher and carry more. read Starship Troopers By Hienline it goes into that powered armor stuff

Playing Halo would make a subject like this to come up. I've heard of it... but I don't know if it will happen in the immediate future... but, I guess with the increase with technological advances it is a high possibility.

Remember the movie Soldier with Kurt Russell? He was trained from birth to be the ultimate soldier, etc. I believe that this will never happen. The military may eventually try some experiments with 14 or 15 year olds.

Yes, I remeber that movie, I was just about to mention it but you said it first. Soldiers from birth? Sounds like slavery to me.... I dont like the sound of it....

super soldiers now? no, in the future - of course!

they have people who are trained and enhanced from birth but they are using them as spies, if we think why the hell do you need a solder like that? i mean with no emotions and stuff, todays army is doing great! and you can easily brainwash them(bush brainwashed american soldiers to war for their nation, but in realty it was for oil! but they went to war! bin laden is a master of brainwashing! i mean people kill themselfs for him!! if you want to do something good for a solder give them better equipment, from the birth trained "soldiers" make more sense in spy world! if they get captured they won't say a word! but on the other hand here too, you can brainwash an adult person that will work just as good as a born/trained soldier

if you want a maniac of course that's where those soldiers you are talking about come in! but of course i think they have to be geneticly manufactured, you have to be born with a killer instict, it's not possible to train it!

The Human body is a machine, a biological one but still a machine. Any machine can be improved, tweaked, tinkered with.

Many of you out there already do. Ingest caffiene? It's a upper, Drink Beer it's a downer. Take Protein powders, diet aides etc.

Look at what you can do with diet aides and exercise. You can push the human body to it's limits in short order.
With a little tweaking you can push it past those limits.

Want to have that 20yearold body for the rest of your life spend a good chunk of change on HGH.

Take a look at any of the bodies of elite troops, tell me that they aren't the "hotrods" of the human race.

The Military is working on making super soldiers by making them super with technology.Such as with the Soldier 2025 program which includes such projects as a powered exoskeleton that could make a soldier have super human lifting and jumping ablity. And other work like the optical stealth camouflage and devlopment in new types of armour will make future soldiers indeed super
