Absolutely disgusting. Theres been another story about another incident all over BBC and they're saying it's outraged the public, so hopefully the Police will take some stick for this and sort themselves out. It seems the American Police have us against them mentality which isn't healthy as they're assigned to assist the public. How can they justify tazing a wheelchair bound person. Some sick police you got over there. There are numerous incidents involving police brutality in America, do the perpetrators ever get punished?

They've been doing this for a while. There were a bad string of taser cases in Florida a few years ago. Just another firearm in my opinion. Where I grew up, don't make a cop work, otherwise they'll shoot you or now taze you...

uberarcanist ...

I am sorry you are sick of the term "incapacitated" being overly used.

Quite frankly I am sick of cops of who overly use tasers.

If someone uses a wheelchair to move about then they are incapacitated to a degree.

that's a damn good bumper sticker. although not one I would even think about putting on my car, or even buying unless with non-sequential bills, cash only.

I heard a report a while back about how a man took the test to be a policeman and scored too high so they wouldn't hire him. Too intelligent you see. It would appear that the morons they are hiring for the police departments these days are so lazy and pathetic that its easier to taze(is that a word) people than actually use a little sense and defuse the situation. It's not a Police state or conspiracy. It's just that the idiots are running the asylum.

As others have noted; this article does not have enough information to pass judgment.

When I read about the knives my thoughts were perhaps different. When I was a child, a hyperactive child (ADD had not been invented yet:lol
I liked to practice throwing a boot knife I had. I got so good with it I could stick it in a board within a hand-spread from 50 feet every time. A person armed with a knife can still be lethal even though they can not reach you. Just another FACT to ponder? I wonder how far you can throw a hammer and cause a real injury? Probably at least 50 feet. Try it!

I would like to hear the other side?

The death certificate reads "Homicide"

Here again, another federal goverment employee, paid for by american tax payers dollars kills one of their own. Cops are not the hero's anymore, they are the horror's.

This is very disturbing and very sad, no doubt about it.

funny enough, that same exact thing happened to me when I applied to the marine corp. Actually, he told me something along the lines of "We're proud of you son! you scored high enough to be a (other job) in the (other service), but you chose the Marine Corp!"

I asked him to repeat that, then immediately stood up, turned around and went to the room next door (all 4 recruiters shared the same building, and their doors all faced each other - haha!)

It's the mentality that the BOSSES are looking for. Don't question anything, don't think, just follow orders. those are the types of cops / military / etc. that will kill unarmed american civilians, perhaps even women and children, when the time calls for it.

no, stop right there. somebody is responsible here, even if the buck gets passed all the way to the guy that did the research that says tasing someone for 160 seconds was ok (if such research exists).

Why didn't they just swat the knife and hammer from her hands with a broom? Heck the family could have done that with little to no injury to the old lady(maybe some red knuckles but thats it). A little creative thinking goes along way...oh wait, most cops have below average IQs so creative thought is out of the question(ATS cops not included).

Just think, before there was tasers, cops did just fine intervening in domestic situations. I heard on the nightly news the other night there has been over 200 taser related deaths. Without a doubt this technology is lethal and should have new engagement guide lines written. A 6 year old should not be tasered, elderly should not be tasered, pregnant women should not be tasered, people wheelchair bound should not be tasered.

Cops did just fine before taser technology and no one died.

And you can prove this how?

I don't know how many of you are aware, but they torture disabled people inside the jails. At least one in particular. Hays County, Texas. I'm thinking of opening a thread on it as soon as I can figure the best place to put it. I wrote to every seated official in the state of Texas, and finally got the attention of the attorney general. He promised to do something, but he didn't. He did speak to the Hays County Sherriff's Dept. and I have an e-mail from them, saying that they conducted an investigation, and found no wrong-doing.
If I open the thread, I will elaborate more on what they did. You wouldn't believe it!

Feel free to bash the police all you want that will not change my line of thinking, There are always two sides to every story and I want to hear the other side first before passing judgement as you want.

Remeber innoicient until proven guilty

What about her rights, and innocence until proven guilty.
Yeah, we don't know what happened cuz we weren't there.

She was crazed and not in her right mind.
She's DEAD now.

With the recent publicity with tazing, my husband was appalled that +/- 200 people have died of this non-lethal force.
I'm appalled that everyone doesn't know more about how many have died...and where is the OUTRAGE.

Yes, please put up that post. I've visited jails on many occasions, definitely not nice places. It is a good topic, because on the one hand, we want to have our jails be unpleasant places for a deterrent purpose, but on the other hand you can't have cruel and unusual punishment.

It's a fine line, how does one draw it?

But the flip side of the story is have overall police killings gone down since the taser was introduced?

But seriously. Does the anti-taser crowd want us to go back to shooting people in the kneecaps or cracking them in the head with nightsticks?

Well number 1, I shouldn't have been there to begin with, #2, I had obvious disabilties, and these were the ones they centered on. I'll give one example here. My left arm had been frozen at my waist for over a year, it wasn't when they got through with me. A mean brutal jailer jerked it up behind my back and laughed when he heard the snapping, crunching noises along with my screams.
What happened to my, 'innocent till proven guilty?'
for a background on my disabilties, go here www.abovetopsecret.com...

Anyone have any suggestions where this thread would best be posted?
