Republicans Call for Ahmadinejad to be Kept Out of US

It's a common misconception that places like embassies are extensions of the sending state's territory. It simply isn't true. All the local laws and such of the state receiving the embassy still apply. There are certain inviolable rights, but there are no little stretches of foreign countries in every American city, regardless of what you learned on The Simpsons. There are more than a few court decisions regarding this. I, too, imagine the UN would be treated similarly to an embassy.

Even if the UN were considered it's own country, though, the Iranian president would need need to pass through territory that is not if he wanted to get there.

We ought to let him speak at the UN, Chavez proved how bat crackers he is last time he was there, time for Imanutjob to have his turn. I'd prefer both the US get out of the UN and the UN get out of the US, but that will take time.

I will really want to hear Ahmadinejad speak on the UN, after all he believe in diplomacy something nobody had told bush how that is done or what it means.

And please let the UN have a good interpreter, not one that is going to say that Ahmadinejad is in the US to blow up Israel our of existence

You do realize that the United States funds more of the United Nations than all of the other 177 member nations COMBINED.

In light of that I guess you could say we own the UN. Sure doesn’t show in the voting records of all those countries receiving aid from us.

I agree, get the US out of the UN and let them headquarter in Europe somewhere. The world wants our money but not us, so they can go smoke each others pipes.

The UN has proven itself lame on a yearly basis and it is time we pulled the plug.

The way I look at the UN in New York is the same way I look at a moocher in another person's home. Here's an old article from 1997 that talks about how much the various UN diplomats owe NYC in parking tickets;

Simply put, the UN needs to get a job and move out. If the UN would actually do it's job then I'd be perfectly fine with hosting them. However all the UN does is leech off the world's successful nations and then blow that money on supporting tin pot dictatorships while millions of people starve to death. So until the UN gets something done they really don't have much of any right to abuse American sovereignty in New York City.

But until then, I don't really see why not to let him come. Seeing as for whatever reason we still tolerate the United Nations it wouldn't hurt to let him come, appreciate New York's inferior pizza (no offense to any New Yorkers, I'm a fan of Chicago style), and say whatever it is he wants to say. If he wants to talk about world peace, that's cool with me. If he wants to saber rattle some more, that's cool with me too. We don't have to agree with anything he says, but it wouldn't hurt to let him let him speak for a bit.

In the meantime to suggest that the world hates America because of stuff like this is flat out rediculous. Baring Ahmadinejad from the UN is not an official policy. I repeat, our government has done no such thing. What the article is discussing is the opinions of two presidential candidates out of well over a dozen of candidates. I'm sure that every country has politicians who's opinions are just as outrageous. We don't consider all of Germany to be Nazi's because of a few bad apples, and I don't consider all of the French to be a bunch of cowards because of their bad apples. Every nation has politicians who give their opinions, and that's just how it is.

The guy is president of a sovereign nation, and has EVERY right to attend the UN regardless of the country in which the UN meeting is being held

The only way I am for keeping the UN in the U.S. is IF the U.S. is secretly spying on all the member. Its very convienent having the UN in New York IF we are secretly spying on the thugs.

He is a propagandist. He will say exactly what you want to hear because he knows gullible people like yourself will be listening. Its all propaganda by him and you are a willing participant. However, if by some chance he actually says what he means, like how he want to destroy Israel), you will blame it on the interpreter. Now thats funny!

Would Iran or Venezuala allow the U.S. president to rant and rave propaganda as Chavez did with his "Diablo" speech? I think not. The US in my opionion has been too tolerant with these dictators.

Actually, he's right. Two research groups have concluded between 1 to 1.2 million people have died as a direct result of the war.
And yes, there are approximately 4 times that amount who have been displaced.
