The first fish is the Alligator Gar, which have been known to get to 12 feet in length. The record was around 270 pounds or so. It's found in the US South. Nasty critter

The "freakish fish" is some kind of angler fish, or another deep sea predator. I just watched Blue Planet's deep ocean episode, and they had critters like that, in the black depths.

The merperson thing is a Fiji Mermaid. A hoax, in other words.

These are all strange creatures, the mermaid is fake, I believe its one of those fiji mermiads? could be wrong.

Shackle, if you would've searched a little harder you could've found most of these creatures explained right of the net. People should search a little harder before posting something so they don't embarrass themselves and look stupid.

I believe there's much more to discover in the oceans than in space

What more was he required to do, oh Grand Hall Master of the post requirements?

Some people ought to think before they post so they don't embarrass all of us why making themselves look stupid.

I'm severely disappointed. Not in the thread, it's a good one. But there's one major flaw,

No bloody monkfish!

Every fish thread I've seen here usually turns out to be a monkfish. Shame on you people, shame on thee!

If Shackle never put up this post, I would never have found out that there is a freakishly huge monster fish found in the southern US called an alligator gar. Plus it tastes like lobster. That's worth reading, right?

well i live in Florida and yes the gar do get very big I've personally seen one that was 6ft long.

as for them tasting like lobster they don't + they have a lot of bones in them which makes them hard to eat, where I'm from only black people eat gar so whats that tell you?

???

It really doesn't tell me much at all.

Where I come from.. black people eat the same food I do.

As far as the pics, keep posting. One new one out of many old ones, makes all the difference.
