Russia concerned by Iran war talk

news.bbc.co.uk

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has expressed fears over the threat of war in Iran after talks with his French counterpart, Bernard Kouchner.

Iran's nuclear programme is topping the agenda of their meeting in Moscow.

On Sunday, Mr Kouchner raised tensions with Iran, saying: "We have to prepare for the worst, and the worst is war."

"We are worried by reports that there is serious consideration being given to military action in Iran," Mr Lavrov said.

"That is a threat to a region where there are already grave problems in Iraq and Afghanistan."

Clarifying comments he made on Sunday, Mr Kouchner said in Moscow that war was the "worst that could happen".

"Everything should be done to avoid war. We have to negotiate, negotiate, negotiate - without cease, without rebuff," he said.

Is it just me? Or does it seem like Russia knows something is afoot and is trying to keep the crap from hitting the fan? They have many assets in Iran, but it's not the only country that they have invested in though. I'm a little on the fence about this one. I'm not sure if they are afraid of having to "back up" Iran if attacked and lose the ability to trade with many Western countries, or they honestly do not want any conflict to erupt. Who knows? Odd to say the least.

Russia has been supplying the nuke help. Russia pulled their people out several weeks ago in attempts to stop this from happening.

China will be the big loser in an Iran war. They buy virtually all Iran's oil production. There is no real glut of oil to offset Iran's production and OPEC could not pick up the load. Oil would become tight fairly quick.

The biggest oil supplier of China is Africa.

Analysis: Africa Big Oil Supplier To China

www.terradaily.com...

China links to Iran is for oil production and investment, China will not be the biggest loser if US attacks Iran but our nation itself will lose is communist banker that is right now the one buying US debt so the present administration can keep fighting in the middle east.

US and China have more links that you can ever imagine.

I knew that this scum of Sarkozy would follow Bush's rhetoric about Iran... Sarkozy is a neo-con, a zionists and a globalist. The worst kind of it all, just like Bush. France is stuck in politics just like the US is... Sarkozy/Bush/republican/democrat/Hillary/segolène... The same two parties, same globalists fake paradigm, just like here in Canada, in UK, in Germany... all western countries are under NWO/globalists control, this is disgusting.

Russia and China should place troops in Iran and stop the US from doing what they does... let Iran have nukes if they really want to have them or at minimum, give Iran the chance of signing a military alliance with Russia and China promising that they will not get nuclear weapons or the alliance and protection from those countries will be cancelled.

I'm just trying to stop a war that will lead to disastrous consequences.

What are your ideas to not attack Iran and have peace with them? Think from their point of view and the history of foreign involvment in their country.

They've been trying to stop the US from starting WW3 for some time now.

It seems every time the US threatens military action against a country unless that country (insert ultimatum here)... Russia quickly steps in and negotiates with the country.

... it's almost tradition for the US to threaten war at anything that would have only taken 15 minutes of discussion to resolve.
...and they keep asking why the world hates the US.

Is it possible that Iran could be used by Russia and China as a bartering tool on the diplomacy table? I wonder how man Chinese "advisors" are currently in/around Tehran? Same goes for North Koreans. I'm sure there are some in Syria as well.

Any Iran war could lead to a nuclear war which could kill billions.
War by Iran makes me sick to my gut.

I honestly think this all just a bunch of sabre rattling done by people who still think they can get away with this sort of chest thumping. Times are changing and people aren't as submissive as they were 30-40 years ago when it came to these issues. And most of the people in power, well, are old and not really "with" the times. I mean, look at those anti-piracy videos they have before movies now. Yeah, like that's really gonna reach out and tell the kids not to steal movies.
