There are a few homeless people who do choose to be homeless, my biological father is one of them.

However more often than not it is involentary and no, there is not always help available to those who need it. Homeless shelters only have so many beds and usually will only let you stay there for a limited amount of time. Welfare only helps so much, and trying to get a job without an address or phone number is nearly impossible.

here in san diego there 's A LOT of homeless..i heard SD has one of the highest rates of homeless but im not sure if it's true or not..i feel for them ..i dontknow their situation ..damn and i notice A LOT of them are like vietnam vets and stuff too..i see their hats or hear em talking and they always mention im a vietnam vet. and the occasional gulf war vet too..it makes me wonder like oh they served our country and look what happend...is the next wave of homeless going to be iraq vets?? i know not ALL of them are it just seems like a big percentage are some type of "vet" of the armed forces.

i always try to help out even if its a dollar or 50 cents. or a sandwich or something i mean damn why not help out? they are human too.. and yeah its not like a homeless man or women can just walk into a place and get a job it kinda hard with out a permanent address or clean clothes etc..

OMG

I am so glad you cleared this up. For whatever reason I was thinking of you the whole time I was reading the OP post. I'm so glad to hear this was not you.

Sorry, I thought it was.

A large percentage of homeless are employed, many of them full-time. Additionally most of them are NOT mentally ill. Most of the people I have met who have been homeless said that very few people guessed they were homeless at the time. If it were up to me, laundrymats would be open one hour every evening or every morning for the homeless to use for free and there would be multiple places all over each city and town for the homeless to shower and to make and recieve phone calls and they would each have free voicemail. That's three of the biggest barriers to finding a job and a home. Homeless panhandlers are such a nuisance in cities because of the large number of them, but they represent a very small percentage of the homeless and many panhandlers are NOT homeless. I slept in my car because of a still on-going domestic violence situation and because a nationally known org that helps the homeless tried to steal my meager possessions and the shelters were very dangerous for women and I could not get any help from the Women's shelter, a situation that still exists today. Be part of the solution or you're part of the problem. I currently have three dwellings but I do NOT have a home. Most people become homeless long before they become houseless.

It is not my fault that people are homeless and in that case why should I help them? Its so bad in my city homeless people tackle citizens for change. thats the reason for my rant here. Its the homeless peoples problem, NOT my problem.

You are correct it's not your problem and is not your responsibility.
Whilst I disagree with your opinion I can accept it and in no way wish to impose my thoughts and beliefs upon you.
I would be quite willing to debate the issue in an educated and respectful manner, but when you advocate violence against homeless people I'm afraid no-one really gives a toss what you think for you have shown yourself to be what you are. A heartless, selfish bully with little or no regard for your fellow human beings.
My only desire is to inflict the acts that you propose for others upon you.

Ok, sorry I'm back. I just had to give you my two cents again.

First of all, your mindset is the start of a Hitler sort of mindset. Selfish and disregarding to others' misfortunes because he was in such a high position that it mattered not to him.
If people minded only their own problems, the world would be a very horrible place.
There would be no people dedicating their lives to improving healthcare and the wellbeing of humanity. There would be no stable governments in which the leaders cared for the people and not just themselves. There would be no people who risked their lives to saving their people (Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, etc). We'd have a world of dictators and terrorists (Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, etc).

If you honestly feel the way you do, again, I pity you.

Please re-evaluate yourself.

Source? I will be delighted to read it. Also, I'd be interested in how a person would choose to live on the streets, to live in cardboard boxes, to feel cold and hopeless, just because they don't want to get a job. You've probably never even talked to a homeless person. Probably because you're scared they'll steal your soul. I gathered this because you sound irrational in your posts.

YES!!! What you put out there in kindness comes back to you tenfold...Too bad you have not learned that.
You want to know what it is like to be homeless and live on the street...Do it yourself.Been there done that.It sucks big time.To be so hungry you would do almost anything to get enough change to buy a McDonalds burger.Have you ever felt That? Hungry, cold and desperate for help from someone..anyone...but to all you are invisible. To truly understand a man you must walk a mile in his shoes.
I suggest you start walking.Go volunteer at a homeless shelter.Get the knowledge first hand.Talk to these people. They ARE human. Some would love to share their stories I'm sure.Open your eyes and your mind and your heart. Before Karma comes back to bite you in the ass. Don't say I didn't warn you...

so in short what you are saying is when misfortune befalls you and believe it or not one day it will, it does to everyone we should all turn and walk away from you, because after all it isnt our problem. Did you ever stop to consider anyone but yourself?

Honestly i have no problem giving anyone money that needs it if i have it to give ever, even if it is just a scam so what it is only money. have you never heard the saying "be kind to everyone you meet for it may be an angel".
