Bounty set over Prophet cartoon

news.bbc.co.uk

The purported head of al-Qaeda in Iraq has offered a reward for the murder of a Swedish cartoonist over his drawing depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
The $100,000 (£49,310) reward would be raised by 50% if Lars Vilks was "slaughtered like a lamb" said the audio message aired on the internet.

Another $50,000 offered for the slaying of the editor and a new offensive in Iraq was announced in honor of Zarqawi.

In addition, they requested an apology from the government of Sweden or they would target companies Ericsson, Volvo, Ikea, Scania and the Swedish economy.

Those of you who believe that the threat from Islamic terrorists is nothing more than a cover story for US Govt covert ops please take note of this story.

Great find Jack,

DWTzOpinion... This is a clear mind control operation. It fits the model to effect every person mentally, as well as steer people who express political art. Political cartoons were a major weapon of the olden days, as well as today. Im not knocking you NW, how can a person totally discount the inside agents terrorist theory from this 1 story?

THEY: Hmmmm if we could only control the political cartoonists......

Alex J was saying that in the old days terrorism wasnt given any attention in the media. Why do we now give all the attention to it? Fear, Mind Control, all part of the web of lies against the free mind of Earth.

The media in America might not have cared before it actually happened to you, but here in the UK we have always taken terrorism very seriously and given it a great deal of attention.

This is just insane and retarded! A bounty on someone's head?! Now, I don't know how much the media is to blame but you don't often see a great deal of uproar from the peaceful side on events like this. A spokesperson may get on the news and condemn it before saying "but...". Is that through a kind of fear that they will be shunned in the community for going against what is believed by the radical leaders?

Let's for a second accept that the Political Cartoonist was working on behalf of the dark sinister govt forces. Are you suggesting that that the bounty is also the work of these forces?

Sounds like psychological warfare to me. Definitely a form of terrorism in my book. Unless folks know what magic really is, well, I guess they will fall for stuff like this. The way to break the spell is not to publish the spell in the first place. The head of al-Qaeda knows that all he has to do is utter some words so that 90% of his task will be completed. Why doesn't the so-called advanced and sophisticated west seem to demonstrate that same level of intelligence.

It's the oldest trick in the book. The good book, that is.

Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 1-4:

1:1 - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
1:2 - And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1:3 - And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
1:4 - And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Now if that isn't clear, I cannot make it more clear. Being religious or holding the belief in God is not necessary to read, understand, and learn from the Bible. Maybe the so-called sophisticated people's should read more of the Bible. Very ironic if the media publishes those threats without understanding the technique of the threats.

Personally, I think the media does understand those tricks because I find them in nearly every news article I read. And the advertising industry thrives on using them. Anyway, if they didn't want terrorism to spread, then they wouldn't spread terrorism to begin with.

[By the way, to those religious, Christians, Jews, and others, please do not confuse my example as making a statement that God is a terrorist. My intention was to highlight a device that was apparently used by God as told by Moses, the author of the book of Genesis.]

As another mentioned -- great find

Kinda takes me back to Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini putting out the word to kill Satanic Verses writer Salman Rushdie, back in appx /87. Khomeini's long since dead but I think Rushdie's head is still a wanted item over there?

Nothing new under the sky.

In the Danish row rewards were offered too (Hellmutt's thread has all about it). But so far all seven of the artist are still alive and well. They may still have police protection and living disclosed places.

Though the paranoia did run high in the begining, there has -as far as I know- been no attempts on their lives.

Rethorics for the masses I would say.

And he said the Swedish government ought to apologise - otherwise al-Qaeda in Iraq would target "their economy and giant companies such as Ericsson, Volvo, Ikea, Scania".

Source

I have to say, though, that this quote sounds more like the kind of thing that a corporation would say, and not fundamentalist religious terrorists. That's weird.

All the Muslim Extremists need to relax a little bit. You don't see Christians wanting to behead people because 'artists' have portrayed Jesus in a bad light. We all know there have been plenty of these 'artists' showing Jesus in urine and literally 'crap' on Mary. It's very odd behavior in the least.

Anyway, the picture is not that bad.

Let me tell you in the Danish row export interests were targeted too and the loss on dairy export was in billions. A boycott was effective for most of a year.

They've recovered now, I've heard, back stronger than before. Memory is shortsighted and easily manipulated.

Hellmutt's thread: Denmark On Muhammeds Naughty List has that too, case anybody wanna recap.

Actually this is the only offensive one of the seven images from the DANISH row. Nothing to do with the images in question in THIS OP.

BTW, I think the image you bring is not only offensive but artistic worthless.

Maybe you should relax a bit and watch out not to spread disinfo.

Its NOT offensive!
If you are offended by it then you need to relax and find a sense of humor.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I could not be any more relaxed. I find it very amusing.

What did you say? Spreading Disinfo? Sorry, but I must laugh. LOL, LOL

Yes Islamic terrorists exist. But they did not do 9/11.

I am going to draw some indecent Mohamed right now and post it on the internet, see if I get a few crazy people trying to kill me for that

Drawing Mohamed has no effect on anybody, the ones that are "angered" are weak minded people. It's not a polite thing to do but to want to kill somebody for it is too much.

"I disagree with what you say, but I would defend to the death your right to say it" - Voltaire

The above quote is about saying stuff, not killing people

Sorry if I offend You.

But you do bring an image -and it's definately a most offensive one to any Muslim -as though it was the one of those discussed here- and it is not.

I think you should have been aware of that when posting it.

Maybe you were, but in that case it would have nothing to do with humour, but with insult. Not to me or many, if any ATS'er.

Keep in mind others are watching too.

You don't want to get threats against ATS ..uh?

All I'm saying there is no reason to display the images here, as anyone can find them if they wanna look them.

This said for the seroiusity of the discussion. But you did knew, it was NOT one of the Swedish you posted, didn't you?

Hint: If you do wanna bring sensibel images, do it in an external image.

[edit grammar]

PS: Maybe I'm paranoid.

No I was saying that basically because 1 legit threat was made against a cartoonist by a real terrorist doesnt mean there are not cia agents posing as terrorists. There is always more that meets the eye.

Replying to Mupett Galacticus, The terrorism was not given attention in the US because it would create more terrorism by giving fame to terrorists, so it was not normal for them to go into it so much on TV, repetition mind control is now the norm.
