And . . .

12--The national delusion that we no longer reap what we sow.

13--the national demand that government and the world owe--particularly the clueless and lazy--a living, plasma HDTV, a Hummer and happiness . . . by Friday.

14--the delusion that evil can be lastingly fun with no negative consequences.

15--the delusion that arrogance is a minor personality affectation or hip decoration with no negative consequences.

16--the delusion that money buys anything deeply, lastingly treasureable.

17--the delusion that God has gone forever fishing

18--the insanity that there is no right or wrong . . . only interest groups, positions, flavors of preference . . . all equally valid.

19--The utter idiotic delusion that planting cactus will yield mangoes.

20--the delusion that cheapening sex to the grandeur of a used condom makes it more meaningful and a greater treasure.

I have lost all hope in this land i adopted and i'm very sad. Because the apathy continues out there- not here, but out there!!

Most people wont talk about any of it. If they dont talk about it maybe it'll go away?

I think i'll go to work and TALK today and see what reaction i get. I'm likely to get very upset when there isnt any.

You'd think they'd care, wouldnt you? WHY WONT ANYONE TALK???

Not the format you wanted but nevertheless thanks for letting me rant. /

I find that people are willing to talk, but it's all idle chit chat and ultimately irrelevant.
Who is being voted off the latest flavour of the month reality show, events in tv soap's, etc.
Very little of substance and importance.

Is it all part of a general dumbing down process directed at the masses to ensure that people don't question what is actually going on, in their name at times.

Yes, it's so frustrating, but....
I keep on and try to maintain my good humour.
(The regular sessions in the pub with my friends do help!)

This is fun! I have my own list!

10) The pervasive belief that health catastrophes caused by environmental pollution are a "left wing myth". Ask the communities in which childhood cancer rates are astronomically high, or in which the water is so polluted it literally flows from the faucets a deep, luxurious, leathery brown color just how mythological these conditions are.

9) The inability of citizens in one of the wealthiest and best educated nations on the planet to accept homosexuals.

8) Useless rightwing propaganda machines like Fox News and The Washington Times being taken seriously.

7) The belief that teaching kids in school about the dangers of sexual intercourse without using a condom is somehow encouraging them to have sex, and the hopelessly naive conviction that if we just pretend sex doesn't exist nobody will have it outside marriage.

6) The insistence of a small but phenomenally loud segment of society that religious fairytales about "Creationism" should be taught alongside, or in place of, evolution in high school science classes.

5) Whatever the circumstances surrounding the actual attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the American Rightwing used these attacks to justify pushing through their political agenda and drowned out any dissenting voices with chants of "traitor".

4) Any effort to discuss tolerance or oppose bigotry is immediately lost when someone dredges up the strawman of "political correctness" and ten other people say they heard that in California a teacher was once fired from his school district for being a straight white male and innumerable people who can barely spell chime in that the only reason they didn't get into college is because of the reverse discrimination of minority quotas.

3) Although the notion of providing healthcare to American citizens is immediately labelled "welfare" or "socialism", huge subsidies are added to the already bulging coffers of oil companies and other favored corporate interests. Guys, I've got news for you. It ain't "laissez faire" capitalism or rugged individualism when the government is giving money left and right to huge corporate interests.

2) Massive vote fraud occurred in two straight Presidential elections, but nobody particularly cared and the people who did care were immediately shouted down as whiners and anti-American. I wonder how many of the people who had zero tolerance for complaints from Gore and Kerry about the egregious vote tampering and electoral fraud that put Bush in the White House are now indignant when they seem the same sorts of tactics being used against Ron Paul.

1) The Administration falsified data and outright lied to make sure we were ineluctably committed to the Iraqi fiasco. Any efforts to oppose the war were loudly shouted down as "anti-American" or, better still, "anti-troop". How was it "anti-troop" to be opposed to sending American soldiers into Iraq under false pretenses, so that they could be used as pawns to solidify the neo-Con base adn advance their business interests? To this day, the war is talked up by the Moonie owned Washington Times and Fox news, all the while the "Git R Done" crowd whines about the "leftwing media bias".

Ya know I take great offense to you ungrateful people both in the States and outside. If you live in the States you have not one complaint, you are of the must fortunate on the planet, you should be thankful to be able to vote leaders in and out of office, instead of standing in the middle of the river , your panties around your knees whining.....and the rest of the free world has yet to pay back the U.S. for all the blood, money and the freedoms we restored you....It has not been all that long ago folks that the US stepped in and prevented you all from speaking German or Japanese.

Nuff said.

Oh! I totally forgot one.

11) The "love it or leave it" attitude in which all dissenting opinions are instantly labelled treason, blasphemy, or both. The idea that all political or social criticism is anti-American, unless of course you agree with it. My family has a long tradition of service to this country in business, in politics and in the military. I consider it a disservice to the memory of those who have, whatever their own political beliefs, given of themselves to keep this country free if I do not dissent when my country is wrong. Those who sit back and quietly allow their nation to behave badly toward its own citizens and toward its neighbors run the risk of being haunted by the ghosts of those who have done whatever was necessary to protect our sacred obligation to dissent from brutal, harmful, immoral and dastardly policies on the part of the United States. Criticism from outside must also be accepted and taken into account, because the goal of a Republic is not to obstinately defend its every course of action as an example of God inspired righteousness, but rather to improve and grow in order to be as just and fair as is humanly possible. We rebelled against a monarchy that considered its every action inherently right and just. As Americans, it should be our goal to always help our Republic to become stronger and purer so that our every action may be consecrated by righteousness and tempered by fraternity, brotherhood and decency.

Top 10 signs the end of America is near

Yea keep dreaming.. I swear lol, if America did fall tomorrow who would be the dominate powers? Russia/China would be thats who. Do you actually think they are really the "good" guys that some think they are?
Remember the USSR? the country that put up walls and barbed wire to keep people IN and shot anyone that tried to go "over the wall"
I dont know about anyone else but I still remember when I was pretty young hearing on the news how some poor sap was machine gunned as he dangled in the barbed wire.. What was his crime? trying to leave an oppressive nation.
You really think that Russia has changed that much in a decade or two?
I wont even bother going into Chinas human rights abuses.. tiananmen square ring a bell?
Some people just arent happy unless there is a villain to whine and b1tch about..
Give it 2-4 years and most of you whiny people will have your nose so far up the US's azz you wont know what to do..

I am TOTALLY grateful for USA, so yes, THANK YOU for the gift of freedom we have now. I am just lamenting about how a great nation is now strongly devided.

Add a few myself on the list:

10. Marriage is now not just between man and woman, but "persons". (When will it include animals as well?)

9. People who work get taxed, people who don't gets free healthcare.

8. Drunks like R. Kennedy gets to run government affairs.

7. Lack of a spiritual leader (AL Sharpton? lol)

6. Crappy airlines where you pay for dry, cardboard tasting lunch bags and rude "Flight Assistants". (Have you ever travel on Singapore Airlines?)
