And how much more can the US financially afford?

I really hope this is just propaganda because the US governments ongoing campaign is a complete and utter failure.

US and British military complex makes profit from war, think of the soldiers, factory workers who make ammo/equipment, scientists etc. They get the money back which is spent on war thus bolstering the economy.
I also think we should bomb Iran, if we don't Iran will nuke Israel, they have publicly stated they want to wipe Israel of the map.
Can some one please explain how we will be over stretched when all of Europe will help us bomb them???
Iran doesn't have the strength to do anything, even if they launched a ground attack against Israel, they would get toasted by Israel.

Take Care, Vix

LOL don't be wet.
Russia couldn't care less, alls they want to do is sell 20 year old out of date weaponry to 3rd world countrys.
China doesn't care either, they enjoy trade with the west, and have too much to loose to stand up for Iran.

i think russia and china if they dont join in they would be funding and supplying iran with there best tech after all they would like to see us get there ass kicked again.

but all we can do is wait until near the end of bushs rule then we will see if there is war if so then you shall have to pick up the pieces

Errrr, No! Iran has NOT stated it wants to wipe Israel off the map. That extreme porker was debunked long ago.

All of Europe? Have you asked any Europeans how they feel about involvement? Apart from Israels latest poodle Sarkozy talking about military action, I think you'll find most Europeans against any involvement, despite all the anti-Iran propaganda.

Iran doesn't have the strength to do anything, even if they launched a ground attack against Israel, they would get toasted by Israel.

But it's Israel and the US who are the most vocal about attacking anyone. Iran has not tried to (or actually) invaded or attacked any country.

I recommend liquidating any stock you have and get PUT options like the rest of those in the military industrial complex.

If I may go all sci-fi for a minute?

This all seems to me like classic Romulan tactics, if your a Star Trek fan you will know what I mean. Basically Romulans never make the first aggressive strike, they wait for their opponents to make that move in order to make it appear that the Romulans are acting in self defence.

If the American military does strike first then the spin doctors are going to be working overtime, as it currently stands. However if the Iranians launch an attack against America/Iraq/Israel then the spin doctors will be spending most of their working days down the pub.

Which makes me think, someone somewhere is contemplating a black flag operation......

Iran's air force will not be able to mount any significant sorties. Within the first 24 hours all the military airfields will be rendered useless and the hangers targeted. Most of Iran's aircraft will be destroyed on the ground.

Why does everyone seem to think we will just "plop" a CBG down in the middle the Persian Gulf with a big sign on it saying "hit me I can't maneuver in these waters" Carriers will not get up and personal till the Iran is cleared of threats to them. Take a look at a map. Iran can and would be hit from multiple land bases in the region with the Carrier jets being able to extend their range with refueling. If we do attack Iran this will be the biggest salvo of cruise missiles ever launched.

The first wave of attacks will be the cruise missiles on command and control sites, fixed anti aircraft installations, airfields, naval ports. This will be followed or in tandem with a multiple waves of aircraft coming from multiple directions taking out more and more command and control and anti air sites.

With the air defences and air force taken out and Iran's command and control very degraded, the US can focus on the other second stage objectives. Iran can only mount guerrilla attacks against US forces in the region. Their will be no Iranian "invasion" of Iraq. They will be small scaled events that will not hider the overall progress of the attack. Any large scale movements of troops or vehicles by Iran will result in something similar to Iraq's retreat from Kuwait on the highway.

The US will not have to put "boots on the ground" in Iran. at most we will seize all the Islands off Iran and perhaps do some work around the straits of Hormuz.

Their will be some loss of aircraft, it will probably be well within acceptable ranges and Iran will be defanged.

Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of waiting for the moderates and youth in Iran to overthrow the current government. A clock is ticking and once the buzzer goes off, things change dramatically. We will just have to deal with the aftermath as it happens, it's not the ideal solution, but that rarely happens when it comes to armed conflict between nations.

For the sake of argument let’s say Iran stopped its nuclear program and let a country like France help them build nuclear power if they wanted it. And let’s say they greatly reduced their political foot print in the region and let Israel alone.

Who would they need to fear or fight?

When Iraq invaded Iran in 1980 (with US support btw) the intel reported that `the people` would rise up and overthrow the regime and support the invasion to `free` there homeland

well by november 1980, 200,000 of them had joined the army to fight the invasion.

The west does NOT understand these people and the strength of loyalty these are persians and not arabs - there rich historical culture is worlds apart from Iraq.

The greatest challenge for any U.S. or Israeli strikes aimed at disabling Iran's nuclear capabilities will be the very deep underground bunkers.

This was why the U.S. pushed forward testing of a 0.7kt explosive device (Divine Strake?), which would have simulated a potential strike on Iranian underground facilities with tactical 0.7kt nuclear "bunker buster" bombs.

If the goal is to remove the nuclear threat, the above will be necessary.

The other option, the complete annihilation of Iran's defenses, followed by an all out invasion, then the destruction of these underground facilities from the inside out.

even if they do remove the threat you have to take into account iran can and will counter attack you cant just bomb them and think its over you cant break the iranians morale you will make it stronger a few posts above mentions how much they lvoe there country and will deffend it in the short run it might be a victory fro america because i can put money on t they will strike first and after iran strikes back in deffence and you will have a massive war in the mid east and could expand.

Wow! Just catching up. Must agree with the guys thinking it possible to do. Mounting the 1200 sorties would not be that great a toll in resources. It breaks down to 400 a day and the number capable per day would increase as the the threats are eliminated with precision munitions.

However, it would only stop Iran's nuclear production and the Middle East nut jobs would increase exponentially.

No answers on this end but I can definitely see a greater dilemma. Iran would be the "victim" not the provocateur. The US would be the great bully (don't beat me up on that).

I saw several posts from the news junkies that haven't seen some things fairly common on the US propaganda news channels. The BBC and CNN w/ Fox are on different planets with reporting the same stories. IMHO

Don't beat the Nube!

yes it was debunked along time ago - the words are a near repeat from Ayatollah Khomeini , and properly translated are `the zionist regime occupying jeruselum needs to be removed from the page of time`

please learn farsi before you make comments. the words for wiped from the map do not appear in what he said.

I agree, and I think much of the Middle East would welcome it just to justify their cause especially Iran. Iran is slowly losing ground to the young adults who do not want to be extremist and want to adopt a more western view, but an all out air campaign would help the Iranian government rekindle that extremism, and that would over the long haul be to their advantage to maintain control.

But where has he ever said that Iran is going to "wipe Israel of off the map"?
He has talked about the Zionist regime being the downfall of the state of Israel but has never threatened any attacks or aggression directly by Iran.
It's like someone saying the US empire will fall, doesn't mean they are going to attack it, just that it's rotten at the core and it'll be the decay from within that will cause it to fall. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that

I am humbled and chastised and I’ll go off and learn Farsi before I comment again on this subject, or maybe I can just let you translate for me since you must be fluent in it.

Can you answer me one thing for I didn’t really want to say that he used the exact words “wiped off the map” Do you think Iran would attack Israel if they thought they would win? Also do you think they might even do it knowing they would not win but cause a massive upraising towards Israel from all the other Arab countries round them?

This is how me made our first move into Iraq. Next, it will be to send our soldiers in to either over-throw their government or to "establish peace and democracy" among the citizens. Then just like Iraq, US will pave the way for terrorists and insurgence to take over the population, while US citizens demand a troop pull out to a government that wont listen.
