Colombia foils rebel attack on US forces

BOGOTÁ: Colombian police foiled an attempted car bomb attack by leftist rebel guerrillas on US forces stationed in the country, authorities said here Wednesday.

Colombian police chief Oscar Naranjo said 14 guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) were arrested for preparing to bomb a US military base in Melgar, 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of the capital.
