I found this pic and it was linked on a site about area 51...

Was this picture really taken at area 51? I really doubt it, but it was worth asking.

That looks like the Skunkworks production facility at Lockheed to me - certainly no aircraft would be in that state at a testing facility, which is what Groom Lake is.

That photo was taken at Lockheed's Skunk Works facility in Burbank, California, in 1980. Skunk Works aircraft production has since moved to Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale.

While I agree that this photo was taken at Skunk Works, (it's been published in several books and stated as such) I'm not so sure that a test facility would not have projects in such a state of developmental/manufacturing process.

Although I cannot speak for Groom Lake, I do know that Tonopah is one "test site" where one may find a variety of prototype projects in such a state of progress. (UAV's in particular).
