FBI Searching for Suspicious Washington State Ferry Passengers

The FBI released photographs of two men Monday who have been seen on Washington state ferries "exhibiting unusual behavior" and asked the public for help identifying them.

The agency's Seattle field office, along with the Washington Joint Analytical Center, was still seeking the men's identities and whereabouts Wednesday as ferry service was temporarily shutdown when a suspicious package was found in a ferry bathroom and taken away by authorities.

Apparently passengers saw them take an unusual interest in the boat itself, taking pictures etc.

"Over the last six to eight weeks, there has been an increase in some unusual activity reporting," said Assistant Special Agent in Charge Dave Gomez in Seattle. "What we are seeing are individuals engaging in behavior that citizens deem suspicious."

Behind that dubious distinction was the work of the FBI's field intelligence group and the Washington Joint Analytic Center. Supervisory intelligence analyst Ted Turner of the Seattle FBI office told the Seattle P-I last year that "there was an extremely high likelihood, in a handful of incidents, that there was pre-operation planning" for a terrorist attack on the ferry system.

I know some will cry paranoia with "Middle Eastern" looking men, but it does make sense to be more watchful of them rather than other ethnic/demographic groups when it comes to possible terrorism. Just calling it like it I see it.

This doesn't seem to be a one time instance, keeping your eyes and ears open is never a bad idea.

Who knows why these guys were doing what they were doing, but they must have piqued more than just a passing interest to have the FBI publish their picture nationwide.

Hopefully they will come forward themselves or someone who knows who they are will contact the FBI with their identification and location.
