Watched my friend play the demo the other day, nice graphics and game play. But the problem for me is that, you could play it once and finish it, and probably never play it again. but thats just my opinion

Anyone else up for elaboration?

It looks interesting, but it also looks like it could be really frustrating. I think I'll stick to renting this one. If it blows me away, then MAYBE I'll buy it, but these types of games generally don't hold my interest long anyway. I'll give it a try, though, just because it's a cool concept.

Im thinking ill be buying it myself. Its smashing up the review lists all over the net. 100's. 97's, 98's.... ect, ect.

Im willing to bet this will be a sleeper game of the year canidate from what Ive been reading. Also, the game play of the demo, leaves me wanting more like a hot chick after the first date.... well, maybe not that hot and bothered

hahaha, anyways. Its looking like a keeper for me.

Come Friday I'll be dressing in 1930's clothes, creeping around in the dark and attacking divers on sight.

Twill be good times me thinks. Canny wait for this!

Oh god. The wait is interminable.. I really hope my 2.2 64 Bit AMD processor can handle it, as the minimum said 2.4 Intel... I know this game is probably gonna force me to upgrade either way, but that woudl suck sooo much ....

18 hours 53 minutes and 30 seconds to go as of this edit.

I have played the PC Demo and it looks sooo good! It also rocked! The Atmosphere sucked me in right away and it was way too short of a demo. They shoulda gave a bit more, but oh well. I love how you interact with the environment, it's a feat that many games have sought but never achieved... until now. Bioshock will go down in history as one of the best Games of all time. I hope the developer tools are released, shouldn't be too hard to do as it's Unreal Engine....

Actually I could see playing through Bioshock a few times...

There are so many different ways to play the game. Like right now... I'm mostly sneaking around and bashing people with the wrench, turning enemies on each other, making the Big Daddy protect me and kill other Big Daddy's etc. There are so many different plasmids and tonics, I'll be playing around with all sorts of configs for a while.

I find it's more fun analyzing the situation and finding an optimal way of dealing with the foes... rather than just running into a room with guns blazing. It's kinda like a RPG in a sense that you can "build" your character to suit your gameplay style.

Where do you get that plasmid where you trick the big daddies? Is it before, during or after Arcadia? (I'm currently stuck there, need to find some armor piercing rounds to take down the Daddies)

I got it in the 2nd level. I would think that it would be in plasmid machine in Arcadia too though. If not I think you can go back.

I see your point, I guess my opinion was derived from the demo, But I am really wanting to rent this and see where it goes for me..

I think I'm going to call my first born Rapture..

Oh yeah, just wanted to say that all the rumors of the Bioshock Rootkit were completely false. I scanned my computer with 3 different rootkit scanners and not one of them picked up SecureROM as a rootkit. I believe this all started when Vista's ANTI-Rootkit program falsly flagged it as such and the story snowballed from there. All they use is SecureRom copy protection. Whoopteedoo. Half the games I own have SecureRom but people are all in a twitter because it's a fricken Sony Product, so they are trying to start another Sony Rootkit scandal by grossly distorting the truth.

What an awesome game!!!! Been playing it pretty much non-stop since it was delivered, and it runs like a dream on my PC.

I just wanted to say how surprised I've been at how much Metroid has been outselling Bioshock. It's astounding actually as Bioshock is a much more innovative game. I haven't tried the new Metroid yet, but I'm plannign on picking it up soon. I've heard it rocks especially with the addition of the wiimote.

Bioshock is an awesome game, but a rental at that. I know people who bought it and finished it in 3 days. That's not a type of game I could see myself buying. I need my replay value. My girlfriend loved the demo, which in itself is a miracle as she HATES FPS. She is also enjoying the new Metorid. Metroid is also a rental in case you were wondering

3 days? Are you kidding me?! They must have become a hermit for a weekend in order to do that. I've been playing a few hours here and there cuz I'm really busy these days and I'm barely half-way through my first run through. It really pays to rescue a few little sisters as that is how you get hypnotize big daddy plasmid. Hell, I've only uncovered 1/3 of all the plasmids in the game!?! It's gonna take me a while to ferret out all the secrets of this game.

I dont think Bioshock is one of those games like Halo 3 where you can play it over and over due to the simple fact that it is trying to convey a sense of feeling and atmosphere with the game and there doesn't seem to be much of an online component (if any)

Don't compare this to Halo. Apples and Oranges. The only game you can compare this to would be it's predecessor System Shock 2.

There are 2 different endings in Bioshock and Hundreds of secrets(I've barely reached half of all Plasmids and I've logged 40+ hours since release). I've beat for both endings and I'm now trying to see just how many play styles are actually viable in this game.

Run and Gun, while the hardest can be a lot of fun later on if you plan your Plasmids and save up your cash.

Stealth and Guile, is also actually quite easy at first and gradually gets harder(I play on Hard).

Wrench Jockey, very fun when used with Electrobolt hehe.

I'm on my 3rd playthrough and I'm trying to beat the game without firing a single bullet(on regular enemies, Big Daddies and bosses are exempt ).

Have any ideas for other ways to play folks?

I agree! I bought it the day it came out, finished it two days later, haven't played it since! Not to mention there are no rewards for completing the game at all!
