earthquake.usgs.gov...

According to that site, there have already been 43 earthquakes on 8/17 (today) alone.

I really know nothing about how many earthquakes generally happen during a "normal" day, but with all the recent news of earthquakes around the world, I thought I'd check into it.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Well I believe the number of earthquakes is quite normal but I think the magnitude of it all together is irregular. A 8.0 is a lot. And the aftershocks which almost all measure above 6.0 are a big number too. Also there were some other relatively large quakes (+5.0 magnitude is considerd to be large). Maybe people with some more experience could shed some light to what is average and what is not for numbers and magnitudes of earthquakes.
