Just for fun and maybe for education, I thought it would be good to start a thread containing some little known facts to rarely asked questions.

So maybe if you're an expert in your field and have some interesting things to tell folks, or just picked up some tit-bit along the road of life, please feel free to share with us here.

Traditional European roof tiles, commonly called "canal" tiles here in france actually come in 'tops" and "bottoms". Tops are convex when layed and bottoms are convex when layed. Even most of the French don't know that! And traditionally, they were moulded over a persons thigh. I suppose the larger the person, the larger the tile.

More later, please continue. I want some real nitty-gritty facts that we can all use to impress others and generally show off and have fun.

Here are a few more to help get things going....

Dolphins sleep with one eye open.

A sneeze travels out your mouth at over 100 m.p.h.!

Recycling one glass jar, saves enough energy to watch T.V for 3 hours!

If you fart consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

A human eyeball weighs about one once.

And Not a Lot of People Know That!

Famous musicians/bands (artists signed to major record deals) make less than $.05 per $15 CD sold. The remaining $14.95 goes to the label, producers, managers, etc... Bands make most of their money from touring and merchandise other than CD's (T-shirts, posters, etc...)

You can tame budgies and parrots easily by replacing their seeds with iron filings. By holding a large magnet, they will sit hapilly on your hand for hours.

George Washington is often incorrectly acknowledged as having tossed a silver dollar across the Potomac River and sometimes also stated that it was the Delaware River.

Turns out across from his boyhood home, "Ferry Farm," in Frederickburg, VA is where he was alleged to have tossed the silver dollar across. Far easier throw from the Ferry Toll House over to Ferry Farm.
