This will be a sad day for anyone humored by outrageous news:

www.sun-sentinel.com...

What will Americans read now in supermarket check-out lines?

The Weekly World News, which set standards in bizarre tabloid journalism, will stop publishing this month. In other words, there's no point to standing in line to buy groceries anymore.

The tabloid kept Americans "informed," more like entertained, for nearly 30 years. The News' niche was screaming headlines and stories about aliens that kidnapped Elvis, or similar news that had to be respected only for the editors' and writers' lively and creative imaginations.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

Well I haven't actually seen a print issue of one these in a long time, but I'm sad to see it go. It always provided a few laughs, especially when someone posted something from it on ATS thinking it was a reliable source!

Goodbye, Bat Boy, we hardly knew ye!

Holy #!

Damn, i thought this thing was like your rich great grandparents: holding out on you untill all the inheritence was long sine gone. Bad simile, but still, i never thought it would die O_O

*sniffles* Now whatever will keep me updated on Noahs ark and atlantis?

I no longer have anything of interest to grab my attentions while waiting in line at the local grocery mart, and this will sadden me to no end.

No more Bat Boy adventures, more more presidential alien meetings, strange propechies of doom in our cereal flakes, no more Ed Anger...a sad day indeed.

*sigh*

Guess I'm gonna have to start producing DIY magazines again to compensate. Any one else with me on this one?

Ya'll pouting about the world news must be eunuchs. Who needs bat boy when you have 2$20,000 worth of photoshop on a pretty face and perfect cleavage to oggle.

And for the ladies there's always the enticement of soft core porn...er...
I mean "50 ways to please your lover", 101 ways to lose weight, and 2,002 cake recipes for those who can't be bother with either of the previously mentioned gimmicks.

Anyhow Weekly World News just couldn't compete with FoxNews for great fictions in the twenty first century.

D'oh, now my girlfriend is going to have to find something else to read when we take long car trips.

Seriously, she loves buying all of those types of magazines for entertainment, but she only gets them when we're traveling a long distance.

Kinda sad to see it go. Most of the stories were absolutely outlandish, but it was highly entertaining and comical for the most part.
